Additional claims have been made that the words Vicarius Filii Dei exist in Church documents, including supposedly in a book by Pope John Paul II. However every "quote" produced from the book has been shown to be a mistranslation of the original text. The phrase "who represents the Son of God" from John Paul's book Crossing the Threshold of Hope was described by some promoters of the claim as translating into Latin as "Vicarius filii Dei". Its actual translation is " Filium Dei Repraesentat" (the error was caused when the verb represents was mistranslated as the noun representative.)

I mean, right now there are at least 6 or 7. Is there any other faith tradition that gets more attention in GT?

Why?

The reason is that I have spent two years in GT in hopes of understanding my faith better and to learn why others believe what they do. I have found that being Catholic means having to defend your belief most often. In this I have discovered that every finger pointed against the Catholic Church in defiance or as the anti-christ has had a basis in fiction much of the time. I have seen where Christian history for the first 1,500 years has supported and not denied Catholic teahcings. I have seen where accusations against the Catholic teachings are not found any where before the 1,500s. I have learned of sites that fabricate lies and tell half truths and knowing teach of things that have long been discredited because they are willing ti lie to perpetuate the hate against Catholicism.

Also, in my studies to understand Christianity and Catholcism I have been taught by converts to Catholcism and heard their stories. One such story tells of a man who was in a church that taught the Catholic Church is the anti-christ (so to speak). This person in his studies found many truths and these truths led heim to be Catholic though he adhemently did not wish to be and his wife did not either. I am speaking of Scott Hahn. He told of a preacher that spoke out against Catholcism and knowing gave false information because this man felt it was fine to lie so long as you kept people away from the Catholic Church.

So many groups dislike and even hate Catholcism and it seems to be popular to do so. As LLoJ mentioned, many of the threads in GT turn in to every vs the Catholics. It always ends out that way.

Maybe I am jaded? But then maybe I have reason to be?

Umm, what does Russia and Dmitri Medvedev have to do with the Roman Pope? Russia is majority Russian Orthodox, who have nothing to do with the Roman Pope or church. Furthermore, in recent years many Russians have converted back to Christianity, and the church is a powerful force in public life. I'm really not sure how you're making this connection between Russia, the Roman Pope, and the anti-Christ...

This and many of the quotes presented are made by catholics and not christians. So the accusation that these are lies is made by catholics against catholics. Figure that out.

Well, I do not know what to say...

From what I saw over there, it was not a "pretty picture".
The Mormons and RCs seem to garner the most attention on that forum for some reason
