The General Mental Health Forum is now a Read Only Forum. As we had two large areas making it difficult for many to find, we decided to combine the Mental Health & the Recovery sections of the forum into Mental Health & Recovery as a whole. Physical Health still remains as it's own area within the entire Recovery area.
If you are having struggles, need support in a particular area that you aren't finding a specific recovery area forum, you may find the General Struggles forum a great place to post. Any any that is related to emotions, self-esteem, insomnia, anger, relationship dynamics due to mental health and recovery and other issues that don't fit better in another forum would be examples of topics that might go there.
If you have spiritual issues related to a mental health and recovery issue, please use the Recovery Related Spiritual Advice forum. This forum is designed to be like Christian Advice, only for recovery type of issues. Recovery being like a family in many ways, allows us to support one another together. May you be blessed today and each day.

When you plant a garden, in order to get the flowers to grow you have to deal with the weeds first. It's hard work, pulling out all the weeds, and making sure there's a good place for your plants or whatever you are putting in to go. Or if there is a flower already there, you have to pull the weeds around it. Somtimes the weeds are so intertwined with the flower that when you pull out the weed, part of the flower is damaged in the process.
God working in our lives is much like that. God wants to get rid of the bad stuff in our lives. He wants to make a new place, a better place. But in order to do that, we have to deal with some of the stuff that's already taken hold such as past experiences, ways we think of God, and other things. When we deal with that stuff, it's hard and often it hurts. A lot.
But God shapes us because He loves us, not because He wants to see us suffer or fail. A parent does not grab a child's hand because they want to hurt them. A parent grabs a child's hand so they don't run into the street. The child may complain that his or her parent grabbed their hand too hard, but they are not fully aware of the danger.
Often this is the same way we view God. We do not see the full picture of how God is working, all we see is the pain in front of us. But God can see tommorow, and the future. He knows how everything will work out.
I know that it is hard, and I know that it seems hopeless at times but it's not. God is always there. He is always the same now and forever. He does not change. He is always perfect and good.

What do I have to do to make healing continue? I'm afraid that I won't keep it going, I'm afraid I'm not doing enough
