Please explain to me why homosexuality is anathema to God.

Is it strange to enforce this physical limitation when the afterlife's more importnt?

Dear EnemyPartyII
Huh? I never said any such thing...
we were referring to Jesus and His teaching and you called it our prejudice.. of course you did.
I'm talking about using Leviticus to prop up YOUR prejudices
There you go again we are only prejudice to you because we follow Jesus Christ
... Jesus removes our obligation to Leviticus, proving he had no such prejudice
Jesus fulfills Leviticus, what about Leviticus 19, love your neighbour as yourself? How wrong can you always be? No Jesus NT teaching affirms man/woman faithful union as God's purpose and celibacy as the alternative Matt 19, Eph 5, 1 Cor 6. His NT teaching also affirms same sex sex is error, 1 Cor 6, Rom 1, 1 Tim 1, 2 Peter 2, Jude 1

That applies because JESUS said it, NOT because whoever wrote Leviticus said it!

[bible]John 13:34[/bible]

So, Jet_A_Jockey, do you:
Do you for example cut your hair? (I bet you do) if so you are sinning by breaking Lev. 19:27
Leviticus also says:
That eating pork is a sin (Lev. 11:7)
That eating lobster or shrimp or scallops or oysters is a sin (Lev. 11:10-12)
That wearing clothing made of different fabrics is a sin (Lev. 19:19)
That partaking in modern agriculture is a sin (Lev. 19:19)
That shaving is a sin (Lev. 19:27)
That contact with a woman during her period is a sin (Lev. 20:18)
That dining on escargot is a sin (Lev. 11:42)
That attending Church while wearing glasses is a sin or allowing anyone wearing glasses into your church is a sin(Lev 21:20)
That allowing anyone born with scoliosis into your church is a sin (Lev 21:20)
That allowing anyone who is handicapped into your church is a sin (Lev 21:20)

Dear Ohioprof,
No you fix them to yourself. I have given you what my God can do because my God’s testimony is the Bible, you don’t believe in my God of the Bible so you have a different god. Its just basic common sense.
I thought a person who doesn’t believe is a non-believer. The reason I keep flinging it at you is you keep flinging you believe the same God as me and then proceed to deny what my God can do. All you are doing is attacking and denying my God, please cease.
You keep calling me a non-believer. That's you affixing a label to me. You used to try to call me a non-Christian, and now you call me a non-believer.

I have said that I am a believer, just as I have said I am a Christian. I believe in God, and I try to follow the teachings of Jesus.

I have never attacked or denied God. I worship God. There is only one God. He does not belong exclusively to you. He is the God of all of us.

Dear Ohioprof,
This is a good question, as you dont believe it why do you keep disputing it, this forum encourages Christians to cite Bible passages as evidence for views.. I think you need to accpet this is what Christians do.
I did not post this quote that you attribute to me. Jet did.

This is off topic, but I had a mishap today. I was coming downstairs from the memorial service for my friend, and I missed the bottom step and sprained my ankle badly. I am now on crutches, and I cannot drive. But the doc said it is not broken. It will take a few weeks to heal. So I will have to slow down, which is probably a good thing. My daughter has been very helpful to her mom.

The memorial service was very moving, and it was healing for all of us to be together to worship and to celebrate my friend's wonderful life.

And so I'm asking that you explain this to me:
Let's say Leviticus condemns gay sex because it is immoral. What is it about the physical circumstances that makes it immoral? Why is God fine with a skin color difference but not a reproductive organ difference?

What?

Is a homosexual's penis different than a heterosexual's? It the vagina different between a lesbian and a normal woman?

Give us a break!

Sorry to hear that, ohioprof. But I'm glad the service went well. Hope you recover soon.

That's true.

If homosexuality was really a sin, it would be written in stone.
And if it were a really major sin -- as some seem to think it will damn you to hell -- there would be far less ambiguity concerning its supposed condemnation in the Bible.

We're in agreement that the important sins -- the ones God cares the most about -- are obvious, right? The ten commandments, Yeshua's teachings, to love God with all your soul/heart/might (in Deuteronomy), Paul's addition (summarization of Yeshua) to add your neighbor as yourself to that list ...

Does it not seem very improbable, then, for God to add one more send-you-to-hell sin and not make sure it's as obvious as the rest?

Some take it a step further, that not only does God hate the sin of homosexuality, but that God will damn homosexuals to eternal damnation, unlike sinners engaging in every other sin (except that of blasphemy of the Holy Spirit, which Catholic doctrine says is the one unforgiveable sin -- since it requires rejecting God's forgiveness).

All sins that are committed without resulting in remorse will obviously go without forgiveness, because the sinner who commits them does not repent of them. Such is the wicked artifice of Satan and his henchmen.

Homosexuality takes such a hold on a person's psyche (it's insidious) that the person doesn't feel remorse, believes the lie that he is doing what is natural, and blithely, heedlessly goes about his life...

Meanwhile, his soul is becoming more and more black with sin upon sin, hopelessly mired and bound up by his perversity, and the enemy laughs.

Jesus died for you to be free from such bondage. Take Him up on His offer...seriously. He will loose your chains.

It's as plain and obvious as the nose on your face. You just refuse to see it.

Wrong. The bible is clear about how God feels about it, the ambiguity comes from you trying to comprehend WHY God doesn't like it.
Hmmm. That should be a clue in and of itself. Typically, when ambiguity arises when logic is questioned ...

C.S. Lewis argues in Mere Christianity that God has given us an innate sense of what God wants: we call it our conscience. In all cultures everywhere, murder and incest are taboo, for example. We know it to be wrong; it's in our very being. Likewise, the only people who do not feel guilt from stealing have significant problems in their lives.

All of God's commandments, to me, make perfect sense. Every single one of them hurts yourself or another person -- except homosexuality.

The assumption must be made for homosexuality to hurt yourself for the commandment to make sense. The other commandments need no such assumption; the negative effects are clear. Promiscuity, for example, needs no assumption to be made: You get sexually transmitted diseases as a direct result. Personally, I feel God has placed these sort of consequences on earth to give us a heads up. Every single sin has a negative consequence that is obvious to us.

That homosexuality has no obvious negative consequences (to the extent that when I was in a mental facility yesterday and discussed my transgendered problems, no one made any motion about homosexuality being wrong or abnormal) should imply that it's not a sin. Even if you don't consider it evidence, as far as probability is concerned, it is an anomaly that God would not give it clear negative consequences.

So now you say we are to follow the commandments only? The first and greatest commandment is to love God with all your heart mind and spirit. By doing this, if you love God you love and obey His rules, not pick them apart at your liking. (and disbelieve the parts you don't agree with, for that matter)
It's sad how we read the same passage, agree, and yet interpret it completely differently.

A) I try my hardest to love God with all my ... and my neighbor as myself. In doing so, it logically follows that all of God's commandments and Yeshua's teachings are obeyed, since any sin is against one or the other.
B) Homosexuality does not interfere with A. Therefore,
C) Homosexuality is not a sin.

It's a very simple test, really, that applies to everything. Is wearing purple pants a sin? B) Does it interfere with A? No, therefore C.

Why would that give you confidence? Hilarious!^_^ God says it's wrong. Why would people in a mental facility give you more truth than God? You are boosted by those who are secular? The world is at total enmity with God, so as a homosexual is at enmity also, of course he will find solace in the world. The world has the same values!

God doesn't. You need Him.
