They didn't have anything beyond naked eye astronomy. Only 7 objects beyond the "fixed stars" are visible in naked eye astronomy: Sun, Moon, Mercury, Venus, Mars, Jupiter, and Saturn (plus the temporary visit of any short period comets). No Neptune, no Uranus, no Pluto, no Sedna, no Ceres, etc, no moons about any planets.

Just a small correction. Uranus is visible to the naked eye, having a maximum apparent magnitude of +5.3. So with good eyesight and good "seeing" conditions it has doubtless been spotted many times over the millenia, just not recognised for what it was.

No. I make informed, objective assessments based upon readily available information and sound logic. Feel free to provide evidence that Uranus specifically was observed, recognised, identified and documented as a planet by any ancient civilisation.
It is my opinion that it should have been so observed, recognised, identified and documented. I am puzzled that it was not, though perhaps the documentation was lost.

To anticipate your irrelevant questions:

• I have seen UFOs.
• I have very strong doubts that any reported UFOs are visting ETs.
• I have seen ghosts.
• I absolutely do not accept the nonsense that ghosts are the spirits, or souls of the dead, or demons, devils, angels, or any other supernatural phenomenon.

I did. Perhaps my eyesight is failing, but I see no statement that the Dogon tribe "specifically observed, recognised, identified and documented Uranus as a planet." If you think it is in there point me to it.
