I agree, that is a beautiful shot! You may well be right about it being Sierra Nevada; I'm not familiar enough with the US to know for sure, unfortunately.

My dad and I used to go backpacking in the Sierra in the late 1970's. We drove there in his 1968 Plymouth. I'm not sure what model, but I think it was this VIP. That's the right color.

I agree! It reminds me of Maverick in Top Gun, flying his F-14 inverted above the MiG-28.
