  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

And with all your responces, you might consider that you're wrong. Which you are. It was her fault. She was a terrible parent and she got one of her kids killed. Stop defending people who do things to themaelves. It's that mentality that makes people do stupid things. Making them think "its ok". If you take these chances, someone is gonna end up dead. But I guess you don't care about safety. The only victim here was the dead kid.
And you seem sooo bothered by it....

No. You're wrong and it will take something incredibly tragic to make you realize just how wrong you are about this. This entire thread has been a sad joke aside from the few posters here whom still have their empathy. You should seriously reconsider your argument here. Blaming the victim isn't helping anyone.

I would blame the person who hurt them, who wouldn't be me.
Yeah, I really don't see how he doesn't understand that simple concept.

No but I'm not stupid.
Pump those brakes, buddy.

I happen to have resources.

I happen to have family.

I happen to be a bit of a brute, in the sense of physical ability (meaning I played Rugby, prop to be exact into my late 50s and may still unretired).

I'm also smart enough to know there are people who lack resources, whose family is at best a hindrance and who can easily be physically dominated.

I do not choose to judge those less fortunate than myself. Unlike some here.
Excellent post:thumbsup:

Yea, like when people voted Obama into office because he was supposed to be an advocate for low income people, and then welfare systems started getting cut.

What does Obama have to do with anything mentioned in this thread?

I've got a question!

Unless we are going with a huge asymmetry when women are expected to check everything before opening up and men are not just how are people supposed to run background checks?

If you give someone enough to run a check reasonably cheaply you have given a stalker or an identity thief all they need to know.

Now that I think about it even going with a huge asymmetry I'm not willing to give that much information. I have no reason to fear for my physical safety, but the identity theft issue is becoming more and more substantial.

AND thinking about it I don't want to date a paranoid in any case. Reasonable caution and moving a less than light speed is one thing. Background checks is a different matter.

AND I know quite a few real jerks where nothing would show on any background check.

She let him live with her. You'd live with someone who you know nothing about? Or you'd let a child molester live with your kids?

I wouldn't let a child molester live with my kids, if I was aware that they were a child molester.

But, since it's her fault, we should let the guy who killed her off then right?

No. A life for a life. You kill someone, you should take the same punishment. If we let killers go, we devalue the lives they take. Those people lose their right to live when they take it from others.

But why, if its her fault she got killed?

No. The mom deserved jailing for child endangerment. Don't put words in my mouth.

Wow, because nothing encourages people to report abuse in families like a potential charge of child neglect.

What more stunning ideas from your background of legal training do you have?
