2 months is fast no doubt, but you could be dating for 20 years and not realise something like this.

Going to the police and requesting a copy of their criminal record any time someone is going to meet your children?

Well, weighing up risks is a very subjective matter. Always been that way.
I´m the sort of guy who never locks his house nor his car, who is hard to talk into insurances, and who doesn´t view the persons he meets as potential criminals. Has given me a good life for the 55 years that it lasted so far.

I see no reason to harshly blame the mother. Is checking someone's criminal record a normal thing? I currently with two people I barely knew before we moved into together. I'd agree that living with a man after 2 months if you have children does seem rather quick though.

Yes. Well, I am not a woman and I don´t have kids of my own making.
However, none of the women who have introduced me to their kids (sometimes only after a few days) have ever requested a background check - and if they had, I would have abandoned them immediately. Close human relationships require trust.

Is it your habit to blame people for suffering from desperation or for acting out of this desperation?
Personally, I tend to feel empathy with people who are desperate (and possibly make poor decisions out of their desperation).

I don't know. I would say that I'm not the sort of person who makes quick decisions, but I could imagine it happening.

I see no reason to judge her too harshly. It is he who deserves judgement.
