Did CF "fall back" already? Everything seems to be an hour off. I am posting this at 5:59 pm my time.

Depends upon your local settings. CF runs on UTC (also known as GMT). Daylight savings is a local setting in your profile.

DS is a hot debate in Queensland now. A majority of the SE corner of QLD (where the majority of the population lives) wants DS, whilst the overwhelming majority of the rest of QLD doesn't. It puts us out of line with the rest of the Eastern states (90% of Australia's population) for just over 5 months of the year. Considering that QLD has a very large twin town (one that straddles the border) called Coolangatta, this causes a reasonably big problem for some that live on one side of the border and work on the other

I had everything set to adjust to DST automatically in my profile, so I wonder why it was an hour off.

I lived in Indiana for a brief while, and the portion of Indiana I lived in did not go to DST. So for part of the year we were on Eastern time and part of the year we were on Midwest time.

NEW ELEMENT FOUND!

This hurricane mess and gasoline issue is proof that it exists.

A major research institution has recently announced the discovery of the
heaviest element yet known to science. The new element has been named
"Governmentium". Governmentium (Gv) has one neutron, 25 assistant
neutrons, 88 deputy neutrons, and 198 assistant deputy neutrons, giving
it an atomic mass of 312.

These 312 particles are held together by forces called morons, which are
surrounded by vast quantities of lepton like particles called peons.
Since Governmentium has no electrons, it is inert. However, it can be
detected, because it impedes every reaction with which it comes into
contact. A minute amount of Governmentium causes one reaction to take
over four days to complete, when it would normally take less than a second.

Governmentium has a normal half-life of 4 years; it does not decay, but
instead undergoes a reorganization in which a portion of the assistant
neutrons and deputy neutrons exchange places. In fact, Governmentium's
mass will actually increase over time, since each reorganization will
cause more morons to become neutrons, forming isodopes.

This characteristic of moron promotion leads some scientists to believe
that Governmentium is formed whenever morons reach a certain quantity in
concentration. This hypothetical quantity is referred to as Critical
Morass. When catalyzed with money, Governmentium becomes Administratium
-- an element, which radiates just as much energy as Governmentium since
it, has half as many peons but twice as many morons.

I just wanted to post here that I changed my name. I am Jenda, but wanted something more personal to me (I have been using my daughter's name and thought it was time to get my own. ^_^ ).

So, .

Very clever.... ^_^

I thought so! Thanks. :)

I was going to not tell everyone and see if they could figure it out on their own, but then I thought, since I haven't been around much because of training, people would forget who I was. And I couldn't let that happen, now, could I?

I showered and shaved

I adjusted my tie.

I got there and sat

In a pew just in time.

Bowing my head in prayer

As I closed my eyes.

I saw the shoe of the man next to me

Touching my own. I sighed.

With plenty of room on either side

I thought, "Why must our soles touch?"

It bothered me, his shoe touching mine

But it didn't bother him much.

A prayer began: "Our Father"

I thought, "This man with the shoes has

no pride.

They're dusty, worn, and scratched.

Even worse, there are holes on the side!"

"Thank You for blessings," the prayer went on.

The shoe man said a quiet "Amen."

I tried to focus on the prayer

But my thoughts were on his shoes again

Aren't we supposed to look our best

When walking through that door?

"Well, this certainly isn't it," I thought, Glancing toward the floor.

Then the prayer was ended

And the songs of praise began.

The shoe man was certainly loud

Sounding proud as he sang.

His voice lifted the rafters

His hands were raised high.

The Lord could surely hear

The shoe man's voice from the sky.

It was time for the offering

And what I threw in was steep.

I watched as the shoe man reached

Into his pockets so deep.

I saw what was pulled out

What the shoe man put in.

Then I heard a soft "clink"

As when silver hits tin.

The sermon really bored me

To tears, and that's no lie

It was the same for the shoe man

For tears fell from his eyes.

At the end of the service

As is the custom here

We must greet new visitors

And show them all good cheer.

But I felt moved somehow

And wanted to meet the shoe man

So after the closing prayer

I reached over and shook his hand.

He was old and his skin was dark

And his hair was truly a mess

But I thanked him for coming

For being our guest.

He said, "My names' Charlie

I'm glad to meet you, my friend."

There were tears in his eyes

But he had a large, wide grin

"Let me explain," he said

Wiping tears from his eyes.

"I've been coming here for months

And you're the first to say 'Hi.'"

"I know that my appearance

Is not like all the rest

But I really do try

To always look my best."

"I always clean and polish my shoes

Before my very long walk.

But by the time I get here

They're dirty and dusty, like chalk."

My heart filled with pain

and I swallowed to hide my tears

As he continued to apologize

For daring to sit so near.

He said, "When I get here

I know I must look a sight.

But I thought if I could touch you

Then maybe our souls might unite."

I was silent for a moment

Knowing whatever was said

Would pale in comparison

I spoke from my heart, not my head.

"Oh, you've touched me," I said

"And taught me, in part;

That the best of any man

Is what is found in his heart."

The rest, I thought,

This shoe man will never know.

Like just how thankful I really am

That his dirty old shoe touched my soul

Good morning Dan.

We woke up to the first snowfall of the year here.

We had a bit of snow a few weeks ago that melted. Then we got a good bit on Friday.

Now it is raining, but the temperature is supposed to drop tonight and it will change over to snow. It should be really slick by Monday morning.
