Okay, there are times when you may want to open a thread in a Christian-only forums to non-Christians. How would you do it?

Just add [OPEN] in the thread title, and a non-Christian would be able to post in the thread, even if the thread is in a Christian-only forum. Don't put this thread, and the thread will remain closed.

This is good for the Pub or Alehouse fellowship threads, but I'm sure there are other purposes for this as well. :)

Erwin, this is commendable reform in present policy.

That said, allow me to express to what I find disconcerting in your announcement.

You have done what many here do by lumping all those that don’t have a cross faith icon as non-Christian. Doing so contradicts the official line that faith icons are only used to determine posting privileges not Christian status.

6.1 Some forums on this website are provided for Christian discussion only as indicated in the category title. To have "Christians Only" forums we need to define who can post there. We need a set of criteria that clearly defines who a Christian is for the purposes of posting in the "Christians Only" forums. This is not for any other reason. We are not speculating as to a person's salvation, faith or beliefs. This rule is not intended to label a member "non-Christian".

I realize that this terminology ‘non-Christian’ can be an easy short hand of sorts rather than using a longer more accurate description such as Non Nicene Creed Christian. However, it’s this very type of short hand that leads to many misunderstandings and hurt feelings time and time again on this forum.

I would like to see y
ou set a better example when addressing this topic in the future.

Thank you

I agee, I myself sometimes have used the term as a shorthand, on reflection I can see it was an error on my part, and one i strive to no longer repeat
