This was one of my original concerns. As it is there aren't a ton of non-Christians who are necessarily regular visitors in the Christian-only section anyway

*new* visitors see Christian-only and steer clear of it

Very few people actually take the time to read through the rules, so that doesn't help them understand there is an Open tag

And even for the people who decide to come, they have to start searching through all the forums for OPEN tags.

It really seems impractical to me, but of course it doesn't hurt having the option here, I just think its practicality is really really low or limited.

I guess you're right..... so the [open] feature should be advertised somehow, and there should be a lot of such threads on CF. I think that every thread I start in the CO forums will be open, but I don't really start many threads....

A well built levee can be a good thing. As we discivered the hard way here in South Lousianna.

The open tag seems less and less of a good idea to me as I read on. Well not a matter of good/bad idea, more or less the concept of it being at all practical

It has always worked wonderfully in OBOB with the Pubs. Problem was, Erwin had to set each thread to "open" manually, which took time. Now, with the [OPEN] tag, it takes no time at all. Very practical, very useful. When this was proposed to him, fellowship was the only thought on the minds of the suggestors.

I think that the [OPEN] tags are working quite well for fellowship and friendly discussion. I haven't seen any problems with them at all.

When a subject is to be discussed only by those who are part of one school of thought, the discussions remain limited to those who have that icon. This can be necassary when the issue is about something that concerns a specific subject about a specific point of theology.

But when an open fellowship is wanted, it can be done.

Wonderful idea!

A follow up question on [open] now that it has been going for a good while:

the [open] tag has been used in various non-CO forums in threads where the 'regulars" want to invite those not usually permitted to participate - BUT as there is no actual rule as to this application many folk who earnestly wish to operate within the rules are struggling to understand the perimeters - can a senior staff member get us some approved guidelines? Can the [open] rules be incorporated into the CF rules (or forum specific) so that they are easily accessed?

Thanks to all!

b'Shalom
