This may sound indelicate, so to speak, but if he "eats" wouldn't there be "evidence" like ummmm, droppings, etc?

I thought your curiosity was genuine so I was going to share a couple of articles with you, but I'm not so sure how sincere your curiosity is right now. Personally speaking, I think it's unwise for someone to mock something they don't understand, especially when the person has no desire to understand.

Yeah scat! That is why I said earlier, Why not Dna? I just can't believe that we wouldn't at least have fossils or something of them left around.

That doesn't make them true though. My grandfather was full of it. lol He was always pulling stunts on me like telling me baby skunks couldn't spray. Then when I caught one he laughed and said, Oh I guess I was wrong.
