I agree about mental illnesses. I've seen so many times on this site where if you have any kind of mental illness/struggle, people will think you're being attacked by the Devil/demons or you don't have enough faith/trust in God. I believe that usually, it's nothing more than a mental issue.

That's why I don't talk about my anxiety much in certain areas because I know I'm going to be accused of things that aren't true if I do.

I personally think many of the 'demonic attacks' portrayed in the Bible are actually cases of mental illness. Since the Bronze Age shepherds knew very little about anatomy, biology, and legit medicine, demons were probably the easiest explanation to give at the time. There's a case where King Saul was "tormented by spirits" and David had to play some music to calm him down. That could have been an anxiety attack right there and David was remedying it. I've played lyre music on my phone when my mother was having a panic attack and it calmed her down.

The thing is, people back then literally didn't know better. What's the modern Christian's excuse?

Hunh. I never thought about it like that, about the cases of people in the Bible. Of course, while one of the "careless words" I spoke of last night that I always particularly wish to avoid being guilty of myself are words of judgment or condemnation, I do still believe that in some way one can be oppressed if not possessed by an evil spirit of sorts. I just do not know whether to think of them as literal fallen angels/demons from the Abyss (Tartaroo?) or not.

It's just too easy to answer that it is just sin or satanism in the person's life, and walk away while maybe paying lip service with the ol' "I'll pray for your soul". You might as well just be saying "you deserve it" to the victim of the illness, then.

And Sarah's Knight as a Christ-believer don't play that game.

Well, I don't know what short-sighted jerk ever told you something like that, Miss Multi, but they are wrong. It is clear you have a good heart despite your problems. In anything everyone here in this community would be more inclined to believe you are possessed by angels rather than attacked by Satan or demons.

That's so sweet of you to say. Nobody ever told me I was being attacked by the Devil or demons but I have been told I need more faith/trust in God. I've seen both accusations happen to other people, unfortunately.

You know what I hate? When people demand unconditional forgiveness from me but when I screw up and apologize, I get the "Sorry doesn't cut it" response.

It's one of many, many double standards I have to deal with.
This is my philosophy:

Apologize once. Never twice.

If you truly meant your apology and they don't forgive you - then that is on them. If they do forgive but deem your relationship unfixable because too much trust is lost, then accept that either you have done too much damage or that they have issues with sloughing off people they care about and/or who truly care about them (which again would be their fault). From my experience many people deem others as disposable and slough off people quickly.

Grovel for noone, apologize (and mean it) once.

This one, he is wise.
@Wayholka , I have to agree. If you've apologized there's nothing else you can do. Now you have to forgive yourself and work on moving on.

Shush Ray :D lol

And he's humble too.

New Rant:
I know it's been a topic before, but if a food tastes bad can I get a refund on the calories and macros? Like it's just not fair. I didn't enjoy it. I don't want it. I don't want any of it. And I feel like I need the opportunity to try again...

I hate how extreme political correctness has become now and at the same time I also hate how people try to counter it by being extremely obnoxious jerks both in real life and on the internet.

Can't we just have some middle ground?
Can I know your real name, Wayholka?

Is there a way to completely ignore/block a user here? I'm just tired of seeing thread upon thread of annoying political posts. Don't worry, it's no one here in singles. But if there was a way would be great. I know there is a way to ignore a post from a user, but what about threads? I'm just not interested in losing my temper.
