Honestly, I think ironically racism was inspired by good will towards mankind. Christians having a harder time accepting enslaving their fellow man.. So they tried to rationalize it by pretending that black people were not fully human. References of black people being half ape existed pretty much from the start.

It's not so much white slavery I'm worried about, it's more like the Jim Crow laws for whites by the time I'm middle aged or, in an extreme case, a genocide of whites.

Just look at the land grab situation in South Africa right now. That's what I'm talking about.

There isn't a land grab situation here right now. What has happened is that they passed a bill that allows the government to expropriate of land without compensation, but there are still legal steps that would need to be taken before that happens. It's not a situation like there was in Zimbabwe where people invaded farms and simply forced the farmers out - there is a process that would need to be followed, and the people at the top do have a vested interest in making sure that the process is followed correctly as many of them have very significant business interests, so anything which destabilises the country economically would not be good for their personal wealth.

Yeah, it's a complicated issue (and I don't know all the details either), with many articles and headlines not going deep enough to cover all the aspects. That's not to say that land grabs couldn't happen down the line, but I think a lot would need to happen before it ever comes to that, and I would be surprised if it did.

So far all I'm hearing is doom and gloom to the point where Australians are trying to give refugee status to white South African farmers over this.

Hopefully things turn out better than what the news is making it out to be so far.

As far as I know it's just one Australian politician who's proposed the idea of refugee status, and my understanding is that he's been criticised by a lot of Australians, not least because he's only focused on white South Africans and ignored people of other ethnicities from other countries who have a far more legitimate claim for refugee status. As for those who marched, there are many South Africans living in other countries who have very little good to say about the country of their birth, and are very vocal about it despite not knowing the whole story, or sometimes even deliberately ignoring anything which doesn't fit their preferred narrative.

Another thing that bugs me sometimes is when people think that everyone has to want to date, get married, and have kids. Not everyone is interested in or "good" at that.

It seems people can't even make a joke April Fools thread without possibly offending or hurting someone's feelings, these days. Now I have seen this new trend of being offended on someone else's behalf. Someone posted a meme about this generation being the offended generation, and it was funny cause it's true. It almost seems like people are looking for things to be offended at. It's sad to see this sjw way of thinking creep into CF. So now that even a self deprecating joke might hurt someone else's feelings, should we just stop telling jokes?

THIS is why we can't have nice things on Singles.
