• The General Mental Health Forum is now a Read Only Forum. As we had two large areas making it difficult for many to find, we decided to combine the Mental Health & the Recovery sections of the forum into Mental Health & Recovery as a whole. Physical Health still remains as it's own area within the entire Recovery area.

If you are having struggles, need support in a particular area that you aren't finding a specific recovery area forum, you may find the General Struggles forum a great place to post. Any any that is related to emotions, self-esteem, insomnia, anger, relationship dynamics due to mental health and recovery and other issues that don't fit better in another forum would be examples of topics that might go there.

If you have spiritual issues related to a mental health and recovery issue, please use the Recovery Related Spiritual Advice forum. This forum is designed to be like Christian Advice, only for recovery type of issues. Recovery being like a family in many ways, allows us to support one another together. May you be blessed today and each day.

Ok:) I'm feeling kind of bad right now but I'm just going to try to depend on God he'll get me through this.

Worriedone, this is the hardest part todo for anyone with OCD, it was unimaginably tough for me when things were at their worst. it will be tough the first few weeks or even months, but it willeventually get a bit easier and tolerable. Therapy and meds will also make it a bit easier too.

What you are doing now is relying on pure faith and trust in the Lord. Your faith is HUMUNGOUS now and growing each day. The lord is glowing with Joy to see you trust him despite what you are going through.

You are more of a christian now then you can ever imagine:)

Nooooo!!!!!! You're wrong what they're saying is the same thing everyone's told us. What they're saying is try to believe and God and try to through all your doubt. You pray to God and ask him to get better now you don't do they just in case you do it and it displays a level of faith.

Who? You most certainly do not have to "bet the farm" on Jesus faith and doubt can coexist now it's not necessarily a pod thing to have doubt but faith and doubt can coexist. Look in the Bible the guy who said I believe Lord help my unbelief. All you need is the faith the size of a mustard seed to be saved that's saying the smallest bit of faith will save you. You said yourself you have faith and doubt. See they coexist. You want to be saved too God would never reject you! And this unbelief thing I remember distinctly what it was and it was horrible but you don't really not believe these doubts are making sense to you and you feel like your on the verge of not believing, trust me when I say this all of that doubt turning to disbelief is OCD!

Hey I'm doing better!:) my thoughts are still there I'm just trying to ignore them and pray regularly and God will take care of the rest, right?

Worriedone That is so awesome to hear, this is exactly what the greats like Bunyan did. Your doing exactly what you need to do at this moment, The lord will take care of the rest and give you the strength and wisdom you need. Its allready taking effect.
Very proud of you bro:)

He said i display faith with out 100 percent certainty all the time through life. I have to bet the farm on Jesus aka faith to be saved but I cant. There is faith, doubt and unbelief. I am on the hump how can i bet the farm.

Sis, like I told worriedone and like hes telling you, the faith of a mustard seed. Did Jesus say you need absolute faith????????/ He never said that. HE told you to come as you are, which is what your doing. Ask the Lord to take care of you and just help you to hold on until you find the correct help that you can get. Remember how bad I was when things were at their worst? For Pete's sake I wanted to commit suicide. It cant get worse then that. There is no such thing as perfect faith. The greatest Christian theologians went through doubts (some long periods).

Look at Gary Habermas, one of the top Christian philosophers today. HE went through a 10 year period, but you know what? He got through it and they all got through it.

Another awesome news guys, this month daniel wallace announced in a debate that they found a fragment of the gospel of mark that they are initially dating from the 1st century!!!!!! This is gonna completely turn the skeptics on their heads. If correct that will date right back to the time of the apostles:D

No they don't have an exact date yet, nor does the public get to know which scripture verses it contains or which text it contains, yet. There is going to come out an academic book about the newly found manuscripts (one from the first century and seven from the second century) about a year from now. Of course the dating of the Bible is allready known since before.
What does that mean exactly they have an exact date on that but not the bible?

Unix what was claimed by Daniel Wallace is that it was allready dated by a world class expert in this area, and teh initial report of this expert is that this fragment is dated from the 1st century. The fact that it was announced by an evangelic christian appologist tells me that its gonna be more awesome evidence that keeps pushing the earliest date of the bible all the way back to the time of the disciples and eyewitnesses. Im pretty sure its gonna rock the new testament world in a very positive manner for Christianity.

Ok we have a date on the Bible. Mark is part of the Bible. So what is new? Forgive me I am stupid when it comes to these things.

Raven new testament history is the best history of any ancient figure or document, This fragment is just another in a long line of great evidences for teh accuracy of the new testament:D

I've been doing better but today my OCD is starting to flare up making me worry I don't believe or about God's existence I try to tell Jesus to take it but I can't help but worry I don't acknowledge God enough. Do any of you have ideas or reassurance that's what I need.

Worriedone, there are many things I could throw at you here (peter stoners messianic prophecy of probabilities etc etc etc), but reassurance is the goal of the ocd thoughts. I usually pick one area to reenforce but I try to stay away from the reassurance. Believe me its tough (I know it all too well). The messianic prophecies predicted so many things about Jesus coming and how he lived and died that its amazing.

Ask God to keep you hanging on until you get the help that you need.
Your doing a million times better then I was buddy.:)
Your a true Christian warrior:)

Hey Worried one, thats awesome that your worrying has calmed down, and its normal to feel a bit distant from God after going through something like this ( I still feel it at times during the day), because the OCD thoughts and the feelings associated with the thoughts feel so real that part of your brain and body are still are going through the motions of this, but these feelings are not you and God sees your thirst for him. Dont worry Buddy, The lord will eventually pull you through this, along with a good therapist:)

I had a couple of very bad days this weekend, and when I recovered I started deleting my reassurance bookmarks and just started trusting out lord from within my will. You see how tricky this disorder is that it could still attack me after 2 years?, but the difference now is that I know when I could see just a little through the haze I know exactly who im holding onto and thats Jesus:)

Also dont be so hard on yourself buddy, it is especially during this time that our Lord is most leanient and compassionate towards us. OCD is not a sin and God (the most intelligent and loving being of all ) knows this. IF he has allready forgiven you, you have to forgive yourself:).
