All who are justified by the law are debtors to keep the whole law...

2 Behold, I Paul say unto you, that if ye be circumcised, Christ shall profit you nothing.
3 For I testify again to every man that is circumcised, that he is a debtor to do the whole law.
4 Christ is become of no effect unto you, whosoever of you are justified by the law; ye are fallen from grace. - Galatians 5

For whosoever shall keep the whole law, and yet offend in one point, he is guilty of all. - James 2:10
I like this and agree with your thinking.

The funny thing that I've seen is that folks that are adamant about keeping the sabbath, and other various OT laws, do a "get around" by saying that sticking to OT laws is not about justification, it's about obedience. They will say that observing the law will not get people saved and then will try very hard not to say that we must follow them in order to remained saved. But that's what they really mean... if we don't keep the OT laws, we are disobedient and will lose salvation.

Only Old Testament laws?

Luke 23:56 Then they returned and prepared spices and fragrant oils. And they rested on the Sabbath according to the commandment.

God only gave a number and a name to one day in the whole bible, the seventh day which He calls His Sabbath

Exo 20:10 but the seventh day is the Sabbath of the Lord your God.

And He calls the Sabbath My holy day, the holy day of the Lord Isa 58:13

The NT is filled with the Sabbath scriptures, so obviously didn’t go anywhere- kept by Jesus Himself Luke 4:16 and His faithful followers Luke 23:56 and His disciples decades after the Cross Acts 13:42 Acts 13:44 Acts 13:14, Acts 16:13 Acts 17:2-3 Acts 18:4 just as Jesus predicted for His faithful followers Mat 24:20

Our obedience to God should always come from faith- faith in Jesus and faith of Jesus- how did Jesus live, what did He teach. There is no teaching that Jesus said we are not to keep the Sabbath commandment- He said it was made for us Mat 2:27 He kept it Himself and is our example, He taught often on the Ten Commandments Mat 15:3-14 Mark 7:7-13 Mat 19:17-19 teaching not to break or teach others to break the least of these commandments Mat 5:19-30 following the faith of Jesus Rev 14:12 and His example will only lead us on the narrow path back to reconciliation. Rev 22:14 Obedience to God is a consequence of being saved Rev 14:12, not a means to it. We are saved only by the blood of Jesus Christ through faith.

Sin is the transgression of God's law (1 John 3:4) and God's law instruct to keep the 7th day holy (Exodus 20:8-11),
God gave different laws to different people over the time man was created. Quoting 1Jn 3:4 as meaning the Sabbath law is not in any way how to determine what transgression is for Christians. If you would only continue to read1Jn3 you would find that John spelled out what transgression is today. Starting with verse 19 he wrote: 19 This is how we know that we belong to the truth and how we set our hearts at rest in his presence: 20 If our hearts condemn us, we know that God is greater than our hearts, and he knows everything. 21 Dear friends, if our hearts do not condemn us, we have confidence before God 22 and receive from him anything we ask, because we keep his commands and do what pleases him. 23 And this is his command: to believe in the name of his Son, Jesus Christ, and to love one another as he commanded us. 24 The one who keeps God’s commands lives in him, and he in them. And this is how we know that he lives in us: We know it by the Spirit he gave us.

According to New Testament teachings, you are teaching heresy because we are not under the Laws that Israel was under. Jesus said He3 kept His Father's commandments, and we are to keep His commands. His commands are that we love Him and love others as He loves us. He never, even when He was under the Sinai covenant, taught that Gentiles must keep the Sabbath. To teach otherwise is adding to scripture.

This is what Christ taught....which we should live by:

Christ relates keeping the Sabbath with doing righteousness. Is there no need for Righteousness anymore?
Christ relates profaning the Sabbath with doing evil? Is that how someone in Christ should live- by doing evil?
Christ relates keeping the Sabbath as a blessing from Christ- the opposite seems like a terrible idea
Christ relates keeping the Sabbath with loving His name? Do we no longer need to love His name?
Christ relates keeping the Sabbath with serving Him. Are we no longer required to be His servant?
Christ relates keeping His Sabbath with joining ourselves to Him? Should someone in Christ not want to join themselves to Him- the opposite of this seems like a terrible idea- we are either with Him or by default against Him Mat 12:30
Christ relates keeping the Sabbath as holding fast to His covenant. Should we not want to be in a covenant relationship with Him?
Christ taught the Sabbath was made for everyone and specifically calls out Gentiles

Isa 56:1 Thus says the Lord:

“Keep justice, and do righteousness,
For My salvation is about to come,
And My righteousness to be revealed.
2 Blessed is the man who does this,
And the son of man who lays hold on it;
Who keeps from defiling the Sabbath,
And keeps his hand from doing any evil.”

6 “Also the sons of the foreigner
Who join themselves to the Lord, to serve Him,
And to love the name of the Lord, to be His servants—

Everyone who keeps from defiling
the Sabbath,
And holds fast My covenant

No wonder why Jesus taught the Sabbath was made for mankind Mat 2:27 instead of teaching there is no need for the Sabbath because man needs God’s blessing and sanctification Eze 20:12 because no man or church can sanctify only God can. I can see why Satan hates the Sabbath so much because he does not want people to join themselves to Christ. He wants to be like the Most High which is why he made a counterfeit to everything God holds sacred. Satan has been deceiving people for centuries as the apostles taught. .Acts 20:29

The Sabbath is a sign that we are God's people Eze 20:20- look at what the Sabbath provides, and this is just in one passage. The scriptures are filled with the blessing and curses it brings when we keep or not keep. Even in the last days because when Jesus told His people the sign when to flee from Jerusalem because of its destruction- which has a secondary prophesy- they were Sabbath-keepers. Mat 24:20 everyone who fled were saved. Obviously not something ended at the Cross, as this was decades later.

The Sabbath commandment is the only commandment that reveals the God of Creation and contains His seal. Removing the Sabbath commandment is really removing the Authority of Christ who created heaven and earth and everything in them Exo 20:11, without the power of Jesus Christ no one can keep any of the commandments. The Authority of Christ in Creation Gen 2:1-3 Exo 20:11 is the same in Authority of Christ in Judgement Rev 14:7 because Christ changes not. He is the same, yesterday, today and tomorrow Heb 13:8 and I guess those who think there is no need for the Sabbath would not really be happy in heaven when God's Sabbath and His holy day Isa 58:13 based on His Authority Exo 20:8-11 Exo 32:16 Exo 31:18 continues forever Isa 66:23 thus saith the Lord.

Keeping nine commandments is not a teaching of scripture. God spoke and God wrote Ten Commandments Exo 34:28 Deut 4:13 and He said He would not alter His Words Psa 89:34 Mat 5:18 which is why we break one of the commandments we break them all James 2:10-12 and why Jesus taught not to break the least of these commandments Mat 5:19-30 We have free will, but my faith is in every Word of God. Only He can reverse His blessing Num 23:20 and why He said Rememer the Sabbath day, because He knew everyone would forget. Do we follow God or popular traditions of man. Jesus tells which path to take Mat 15:3-14 we all have choices.

Speaking of the Sabbath- Happy Sabbath all. :twohearts:
It is often argued that keeping of the Sabbath was one of the Ten Commandments given to Moses, and that, while the rest of the Law of Moses was done away, the obligation remains to keep all of the Ten Commandments. Some make a distinction between a ‘moral law’ of the Ten Commandments, “the law of God”, and a so-called ‘ceremonial law’, the “law of Moses”, which they believe was done away by Christ. This distinction is not taught in Scripture. The Bible uses the terms “law of Moses” and “law of God” interchangeably (Num. 31:21; Josh. 23:6; 2 Chron. 31:3). The Old Covenant refers to the Law of Moses, which was replaced on the cross by the New Covenant. - God “declared unto you (Israel) his covenant, which he commanded you (Israel) to perform, even Ten Commandments; and he wrote them upon two tables of stone” (Deut. 4:13). Again, it should be noted that this covenant, based upon the Ten Commandments, was made between God and Israel, not Gentiles of the present day.

Moses ascended Mount Horeb to receive the stone tablets upon which God had written the Ten Commandments. Moses later commented concerning this, “The Lord our God made a covenant with us in Horeb” (Deut. 5:2), i.e. through those Ten Commandments.

At this time, God “wrote upon the tables the words of the covenant, the ten commandments” (Ex. 34:28). This same covenant included details of the so-called ‘ceremonial law’ (Ex. 34:27). If we argue that keeping the covenant made in the ten commandments is necessary, we must also observe every detail of the entire law, seeing that this is all part of the same covenant. It is evidently impossible to do this.

“There was nothing in the ark save the two tables of stone, which Moses put there at Horeb…the ark, wherein is the covenant of the Lord” (1 Kings 8:9,21). Those tables, on which were the Ten Commandments, were the covenant.

Heb. 9:4 speaks of “the tables of the covenant”. The Ten Commandments were written on the tables of stone, which comprised “the (old) covenant”.

Paul refers to this covenant as “written and engraved in stones”, i.e. on the tables of stone. He calls it “the ministration of death...the ministration of condemnation...that which is done away” (2 Cor. 3:7 11). The covenant associated with the Ten Commandments can certainly not give any hope of salvation.

Leviticus 19 gives a good example of how varied the laws are: "Do not steal [one of the 10 commandments). Do not lie. Do not deceive one another... Do not hold back the wages ...Do not mate different kinds of animals. Do not plant your field with two different kinds of seed" (Lev 19:11,13,19,27) -there is no implication that there are different categories of law.

Christ blotted out “the handwriting of ordinances that was against us” (Col. 2:14) on the cross. This alludes to God’s handwriting of the Ten Commandments on the tablets of stone. Likewise, Paul speaks of “the law...being dead...the oldness of the letter” (Rom. 7:6), referring to the letters of the Ten Commandments which were written on the tables of stone.

Just one of the Ten Commandments is styled “the law” in Rom. 7:8: “The law...said, Thou, shalt not covet”. The preceding verses in Rom. 7:1-7 stress how “the law” has been done away by Christ’s death; “the law” therefore includes the Ten Commandments.

All this makes it clear that the Old Covenant and “the law” included the Ten Commandments. As the New Covenant has done the Old Covenant away, the Ten Commandments have therefore been removed.
The Lord Jesus invites those who follow Him to accept the “rest” which He gives (Mt. 11:28). He uses a Greek word that is used in the Septuagint for the Sabbath rest. Jesus was offering a life of Sabbath, of rest from trust in our own works (cf. Heb. 4:3,10). We shouldn’t, therefore, keep a Sabbath one day per week, but rather live our whole lives in the spirit of the Sabbath.

The Ten Commandments are referred to in Revelation 19:10 when the term "testimony" is used. In the Law the " Testimony" was another term for the Ten Commandments: " then put in the ark the Testimony" (Ex 25:16, 21; 30:6), " when the Lord finished speaking to Moses on Mount Sinai, he gave him the two tablets of the Testimony, the tablets of stone inscribed by the finger of God" (Ex 31:18). So, we can see that the "Testimony of Moses" was the Ten Commandments. Now, what does Revelation say the "Testimony of Jesus" is? "The testimony of Jesus is the spirit of prophecy" (Rev 19:10). The "testimony" of the old covenant is replaced by those New Testament prophets who spoke under the influence of the Holy Spirit.

Various Objections

- All the believers are described as being priests (1 Pet. 2:9) - who were exempt from keeping the Sabbath (Mt. 12:5).

- Paul lists many sins in the New Testament, both those practiced by the " world" as well as those practiced in the churches: (Rom 1:28-32, 2 Cor 12:20-21, Gal 5:19-21, Eph 4:25-29, 5:3-18, 2 Tim 3:1-9, 2 Pet 2,3:3-7) but nowhere mentions Sabbath-breakers.

- If we are to keep the Sabbath, we must do so properly; we have earlier shown that it is fatal to keep the Mosaic Law partially, because this will result in our condemnation (Gal. 3:10; James 2:10). Israel was not allowed to do any work on the Sabbath: “Whosoever doeth work therein shall be put to death”.

They were also commanded: “Ye shall kindle no fire throughout your habitations upon the Sabbath day”, and therefore they were forbidden to prepare food on that day (Ex. 35:2,3; 16:23). A man who gathered sticks on the Sabbath, presumably in order to kindle a fire, was punished with death for doing so (Num. 15:32-36).
Those denominations which teach that Sabbath-keeping is binding upon their members should, therefore, punish those members with death when they break the Sabbath like this.

Christians are under the Commandments of Christ

The following is a list of commands which form the basis of our life in Christ. Most were spoken directly by Christ; many were added for clarity by the writers of the epistles.

Love your enemies: do good to them that hate you (Matt. 5:44).

Resist not evil: if a man smites thee on one cheek, turn to him the other also (Matt. 5:30-40).

Avenge not yourselves: rather give place unto wrath: and suffer yourselves to be defrauded (Rom. 12:18, 19).

If a man takes away thy goods, ask them not again (Luke 6:29, 30).

Agree with your adversary quickly, submitting even to wrong for the sake of peace (Matt. 5:25; 1 Cor. 6:7).

Labor not to be rich: be ready to every good work, give to those who ask; relieve the afflicted (1 Tim. 6:8; Rom. 12:13; Heb. 13:16; James 1:27).

Do not your alms before men: Let not thy left hand know what thy right hand doeth (Matt. 6:1-4).

Recompense to no man evil for evil: overcome evil with good (Rom. 12:17).

Bless them that curse you; let no cursing come out of your mouth (Matt. 5:44; Rom. 12:14).

Render not evil for evil or railing for railing, but contrariwise, blessing (1 Pet. 3:9).

Pray for them that despitefully use you and afflict you (Matt. 5:44).

Grudge not: judge not: complain not: condemn not (James 5:9; Matt. 7:1).

Put away anger, wrath, bitterness, and all evil speaking (Eph. 4:31; 1 Pet. 2:1).

Confess your faults one to another (James 5:16).

Be not conformed to this world: love not the world (Rom. 12:2; 1 John 2:15).

Deny all ungodliness and worldly lusts. If thy right hand offends thee, cut it off (Titus 2:13; Matt. 5:30).

Servants be faithful, even to bad masters (Eph. 6:5-8).

Mind not high things but condescend to men of low estate (Rom. 12:16).

Owe no man anything (Rom. 13:7,8).

In case of sin (known or heard of) speak not of it to others but tell the offending brother of the matter between thee and him alone, with a view to recovery (Matt. 18:15; Gal. 6:1).

Love the Lord thy God with all they heart (Matt. 22:37).

Pray always; pray with brevity and simplicity; pray secretly (Luke 18:1; Matt. 6:7).

In everything give thanks to God and recognize Him in all your ways (Eph. 5:20; Prov. 3:6).

As you would that men should do to you, do ye even so to them (Matt. 7:12).

Take Christ for an example and follow in his steps (1 Pet. 2:21).

Let Christ dwell in your heart by faith (Eph. 3:17).

Esteem Christ more highly than all earthly things; yea, than your own life (Luke 14:26).

Confess Christ freely before men (Luke 12:8).

Beware lest the cares of life or the allurements of pleasure weaken his hold on your heart (Matt. 24:44).

Love thy neighbor as thyself (Matt. 22:39).

Exercise lordship over no one (Matt. 23:11).

Seek not your own welfare only, nor bear your own burdens merely, but have regard to those of others (Phil. 2:4; Gal. 6:2).

Let your light shine before men: hold forth the word of life. Do good to all men as ye have the opportunity (Matt. 5:16; Phil. 2:16; Gal. 6:10).

Be blameless and harmless, as the sons of God in the midst of a crooked and perverse generation (Phil. 2:15).

Be gentle, meek, kind-hearted, compassionate, merciful, forgiving (2 Tim. 2:24; Titus 2:2; Eph. 4:32).

Be sober, grave, sincere, temperate (Phil. 4:5; 1 Pet. 1:13; 5:8).

Speak the truth every man with his neighbor: put away all lying (Eph. 4:25).

Whatsoever ye do, do it heartily as unto the Lord, and not unto men (Col. 3:23).

Be watchful, vigilant, brave, joyful, courteous, and strong (1 Cor. 16:13; Phil. 4:4; 1 Thess. 5:6-10).

Be clothed with humility; be patient toward all (Col. 3:12; Rom. 12:12).

Follow peace with all men (Heb. 12:14).

Sympathize in the joys and sorrows of others (Rom. 12:15).

Follow after whatsoever things are true, honest, just, pure, lovely, of good report, virtuous, and praiseful (Phil. 4:8).

Refrain utterly from adultery, fornication, uncleanness, drunkenness, covetousness, wrath, strife, sedition, hatred, emulation, boasting, vainglory, envy, jesting, and foolish talking (Eph. 5:3,4).

Whatever you do, consider the effect of your action on the honor of God's name among men. Do all to the glory of God (1 Cor. 10:31; 3:17).

Reckon yourselves dead to all manner of sin. Henceforth live not to yourselves, but to him who died for you, and rose again (Rom. 6-11; 2 Cor. 5:15).

Be zealous of good works, always abounding in the work of the Lord, wearying, not in well-doing (Titus 2:14; Gal. 6:9).

Speak evil of no man (Titus 3:2).

Let the word of Christ dwell in you richly (Col. 3:16).

Let your speech be always with grace, seasoned with salt (Col. 3:8; 4:6).

Obey rules; submit to every ordinance of man for the Lord's sake (Titus 3:1).

Be holy in all manner of conversation (1 Pet. 1:15, 16).
