On his own website, Obama says the Muslim call to prayer is "''one of the prettiest sounds on Earth . . ."

Personally, I like church bells better. Or hymns. Gregorian chants. Christmas carols.

How many different Muslim calls to prayer have you heard? Have you been to Jakarta to hear the ones there?

If not, who is to say he isn't right?

What does your candidate say on their website is the prettiest sound on earth? Do you have a link to your candidates website?

In other words, completely unsourced rumor giving little or no detail doesn't need to be debunked. It can't be debunked either because there isn't even a definite enough charge to actually be debunked. Saying that he slept around with unknown women at unknown times in unknown places is meaningless.

- Meaningless, UNLESS they are investigated and found to be based in fact.

I am yet to hear of or read a criticism of Obama that leads me to believe he is that bad of a fellow. We do know that Sen J. Sydney McCain has some real questions about his record of being influenced by lobbyists. Shall I detail them for you? He also has some real questions about his flip flopping on almost every important issue. Shall I detail THOSE for you?

The questions about him possibly being an (attempted) rapist and being a traitor who made propaganda films for the Viet Cong are just added to the pile. Let J. Sydney explain how all of that is made up.

I am convinced that all of the crapola coming down the pike to day about Sen. Obama are misrepresentations, distortions, partisan spin, and out-and-out lies.

OTOH, I have real concerns now about J. Sydney McCain III. Rape and being a traitor are serious charges, not like "being associated" with unsavory characters who may be racists, or having the middle name "Hussein" or similar non-issues.

That crap about McCain is no less silly than the mudslinging against Obama.

Rape and being a traitor is equal to stuff like having a funny name, or being "associated" with people who have made racist statements, having a wife who misspoke one sentence in a 45 minute speech, etc., etc.?

I don't think so.

Yes even though I am not that fond of J. SIDNEY McCain III, that stuff is ridiculous.

What strikes you as ridiculous about it? What about it seems implausible?

Ummm-yes-the mudslinging is just dumb. The first time anything about that stuff with mccain was back in the 00 elections then these past primaries was with flyers done by the same group from south carolina. If the stuff with mccain were true, isnt it strange it's just coming out now? Please, let's show a little balance and integrity regarding all candidates.

A vote for Obama is a vote for the man who got BAIPA not passed until 2005 after he left the state legislature.

Proverbs 6:16-19 describes Obama quite well.

There are six things the LORD hates,
seven that are detestable to him:
haughty eyes,
a lying tongue,
hands that shed innocent blood,
a heart that devises wicked schemes,
feet that are quick to rush into evil,
a false witness who pours out lies
and a man who stirs up dissension among brothers.

"Asked about the story in the Spin Room last night, Obama strategist David Axelrod told the National Review's Stephen Spruiell, "that was a discussion that a captain in the military had with our staff, and he asked that that be passed along to Senator Obama."
Conservatives have weighed in on this story, many of them challenging its veracity.

I called the Obama campaign this morning to chat about this story, and was put in touch with the Army captain in question.

He told me his story, which I found quite credible, though for obvious reasons he asked that I not mention his name or certain identifying information.

Short answer: He backs up Obama's story.

The longer answer is worth telling, though.

The Army captain, a West Point graduate, did a tour in a hot area of eastern Afghanistan from the Summer of 2003 through Spring 2004."

The US Army being short on ammo? Is this the US army that blows up broken down strikers? The US Army never runs out of ammo, they have better vehicles then the Marines, they have better armor. They have better everything and they aren't even the ones fighting. I was in Iraq in 2003-2004, we were shooting 40mm and 50cal like it grew on trees at crap we got, shaving cream, axe, boxes, glass, broken computers(great fun), and what ever else that deserved to die. If they had a ammo problem they should of asked us for some, we had way too much.

Why should the poor guy have to defend himself constantly? I think its pathetic people are always trying to knock him down. Its not very Christian.

... If you run for President I think you open yourself up to some penetrating questions. It is all about determining what kind of person you are and what kind of President you will be to us.

It's America, a strange land where religion still matters a great deal and politics regularly involves whispering campaigns and outright character assassination.

There's been an effort to associate Obama with Islam, rather than talking about his policies. It seems to have been quite successful too, many people, mostly Christians right-wingers now seem to suspect him of being a muslim. ^_^

It is strange for religion to still matter to people? I guess I know where you are coming from, then.

The Korean Presidential campaign was a smear fest X 10. Probably because some of the candidates legitimately are rather corrupt as sadly Yi Myeongbak is showing out to be.

I do not think Obama is a Muslim, BTW. I think many liberals think we think he is a Muslim but rarely does that ever come out from our side. Since that point is so easy to defend people are anxious for us to make such an accusation instead of asking those pesky questions about his wacko church.

NELSONVILLE, Ohio (AP) - campaign_minute Democrat Barack Obama says he's tired of questions about his religion. The Democratic presidential candidate told a town hall meeting Sunday in Nelsonvile, Ohio, in the state's rural southeast, that he is a devout Christian who prays to Jesus every night. He told audience members they would feel right at home at his church in Chicago.

Obama defends his Christian religion... from Christians.

Welcome to Post-Bush politics, America. As ye sow, so shall ye reap.
