Agreed.

Did he say he doesn't believe in Jesus Christ?

That's exactly what he said. I remember how incredulous i felt, listening to him. It was the slightest, most harmless (he thought?) statement as he quickly moved on to another topic.

But that one little 'harmless' statement has stuck with me. I will never forget it.

Since it's apparently so powerful, I'm sure you could remember enough of it to give us a source and an exact quote?

When and where did he say that? I'd appreciate a link.

Earlier in the thread I stated I could not remember which interview it was. That's why I suggested researching it diligently, if you're interested. My point was to research all the candidates, including Obama.

Ok. I googled "obama believe jesus christ" and I got these two quotes:
"I believe in the redemptive death and resurrection of Jesus Christ."
"And during the course of that sermon, he introduced me to someone named Jesus Christ. I learned that my sins could be redeemed. I learned that those things I was too weak to accomplish myself, He would accomplish with me if I placed my trust in Him".
Looks to me like he's Christian.

Actually, I will see if I can find a link to that interview now that you mention it. Thanks. :D
It seems to me that saying someone doesn't believe in Jesus Christ is something you'd have a source for before you say it, but OK.

I've done a number of searches just now and found numerous instances of him saying Jesus is his Lord and Saviour, but no luck finding anything with him saying he doesn't believe.

Definitely interested in seeing your source if you're able to find it.

Brinny, you've stated, without doubt, multiple times, that Obama said this and yet nobody on this board heard him say it and the media did not pick it up.

You said we should research the candidates diligently and that means making sure that what we think they said is accurate. If Obama did say this you will be able to find a transcript of the interview which you can then share with us to prove you were speaking the truth. If you can't find a transcript I suspect your memory was at fault. If you contine to spread this around without doing the research you risk unintentionally spreading a lie.

I wouldn't feel "right at home" in a church which honors the Nation of Islam and gave Louis Farrakhan a life-time achievement award.

Been noticing Obama has made a point of denying what no one is seriously claiming--that he is a Muslim--while not mentioning at all what sort of Christianity his pastor and his church teach.

A transparent tactic.
His church does not support the Nation of Islam. <Staff Edit> His church supports Africa, in a mission-in-action format. Like oh, the Catholic church, the Southern Baptist Convention, the United Methodists.

And frankly, attacking someone who professes faith in Christ, over and over and over again, is embarrassing to the entire Chrisitan community, it belies everything Christ taught about being loving, and it feeds the view of non-Christians that Christians are hateful people.

<Staff Edit>

As to the Farrakhan mess, Barack has stated over and over that he assumes the reason the man was given recognition is because he does a tremendous amount of community work with trouble teens, but that Barack opposed the honor, on the grounds that he would never honor a man like Farrakhan.

Spreading lies, like, "His church supports the Nation of Islam," is actually a violation of the 10 commandments. "Thou shalt not bear false witness against they neighbor."

As to the Farrakhan mess, Barack has stated over and over that he assumes the reason the man was given recognition is because he does a tremendous amount of community work with trouble teens, but that Barack opposed the honor, on the grounds that he would never honor a man like Farrakhan.

So PLEASE, please, PLEASE act like a Christian and stop spreading slander!

Further to the Farrakhan mess, it was not Obama, or even his church, who honored Farrakhan, but a magazine. Run by two women. Who happen to be the daughters of the pastor who founded the church Obama attends, a couple or three decades ago.

With that sort of guilt by association, I could "prove" that Voegelin or Billnew "is a communist" by demonstrating that they know someone who knows someone who knows someone who is a communist. Or maybe knows Kevin Bacon. :p

Barack Hussein Obama Jr. has been very explicit that he prays daily and attends, whenever possible, his the church he belongs to, a member congregation of the United Church of Christ. He's been very explicit about how important his faith in Jesus Christ is for him. I doubt very strongly that he has ever said anything contradictory to that.

There are a lot of things on which I disagree with the policies of our current President, George W. Bush. But that he sincerely believes in Christ is not among them.

Perhaps we all need to stop breaking the Third Commandment for political reasons?

NELSONVILLE, Ohio (AP) - campaign_minute Democrat Barack Obama says he's tired of questions about his religion. The Democratic presidential candidate told a town hall meeting Sunday in Nelsonvile, Ohio, in the state's rural southeast, that he is a devout Christian who prays to Jesus every night. He told audience members they would feel right at home at his church in Chicago.

It's sad when someone is called on to defend their Christianity. Last time I checked this was not required for office. In fact, I'd venture to say alot of the people questioning his Christianity would likely fail the "fruits" test publicly. Sad.

Obama does not believe in Jesus Christ. I heard him say this myself during an interview. I do not remember the details except that one statement, it stuck in my mind. If I were you I'd research this diligently.

Nice, no source no way of tracking, amazing what people will say on the internet and on a Christian forum no less.

I can play too. John McCain is a pedophile.

That was easy!

At least give us as much detail as you can.

What year did you hear it?
What medium - TV, Newspaper, Radio?
Who was doing the interview?
Was it an in person interview? Over the phone? Via satellite?
Was it a man or a women doing the interview?
How long was it approximately?
What other topics were discussed?
How did the question of Jesus come up?
What specifically was asked?

If it was so memorable you certainly can provide at least some details, right?

While his actions speak for him, I'll continue my research. THis election is a pivotal moment in history. It requires us all to research diligently what each candidate will contribute or take away from the Constitution and our country's sovereignty. Pretty words and smiles don't mean a daggone thing. I'll research all I can and pay attention when a candidate of the United States of America claims he's a Christian and says he does not believe in Jesus Christ.

Does it require us to post completely unsubastainiated accusations on Christian internet message boards?

Then just like those who wouldn't go to a church where a woman is the Pastor, don't go to it.
