God raised the mountains and lowered the valleys that covered the earth. That's your reality. What you choose to do with it is your issue, but willful ignorance usually isn't the best way to go.

I'm imagining that the cultures that were around when the world wide flood not only missed the flood but didn't notice all those mountains going up and down as well?

wouldn't that be deceit on God's part?

Not if it was required for Noah to replenish the earth, as he was told to do.

God would have had to restore the earth back to its original condition, just so Noah and his family could eat; let alone the animals that got off the Ark.

Adam is a good example.

The earth before the flood is a completely different earth.
The earth before the flood was a single land mass with the waters (ocean) surrounding the earth.

After the flood the single land mass was broken up into multiple land areas, possibly what we have today.

A long time ago I did. From memory, I think he was basically sound? I know I disagreed with him on somethings - although it may well be a blue moon before I agree 100% with anybody lol. But yeah too many years ago and it's possible I might disagree with him even more now.

"The waters above" were called mabbul, a specific Hebrew designation to distinguish the canopy from the waters below.

There was torrential rain in the Land that covered 1 mountain because those particular people were exceedingly wicked above all others. How many mountains are there in the world?

Or you say the old testament is part History & Myth. I tend to lean more on the new testament. Every culture has history and the old testament tells the history of the Jewish people. Every culture on the planet has there own myths and legends. For me the bible is book that helps guide you on having a relationship with god.

Funny Jesus talks about Noah and since Jesus is the creator I think He knows what He is talking about.

Jack, or these were stories of local floods that people exaggerated out of terror . Look at the wildfires out west . I couldn’t imagine living through that as I live nowhere near there .

I suppose if my great great great x 100 greats grandparents had lived through an environmental catastrophe, that it would have become part of the extended family lore.

I will repeat myself on what I said in an earlier post. There were no high mountains and there were no plate tectonics pre Noah's flood. There was a layer of water between the crust and mantle. The crust split sending super heated water into the atmosphere where most fell back as rain. The splitting of the crust created the tectonic plates that we know and love to this day and they began to move crashing into each other creating the mountain ranges of today.

the 2nd law is about a closed system . Earth isn’t a closed system. We get energy from the sun. It would be nice if creationists actually learned real science instead of spouting off half remembered and poorly written creationist pseudoscience.

Plate tectonics started because the cooling of the earths crust caused it to shrink and crack . Since the inside is still molten the sections move around. It’s just simple physics not a global flood that tells you that cooling things tend to shrink . Here’s a picture of earth from 750 million years ago before there were major continents. I put in the location of NYC where it is now to show how much they’ve moved around . That is Africa and Europe pushing up the Appalachians btw

Where did you ever get the idea that the second law of thermodynamics refutes the theory of evolution?

Or that mountains didn't exist prior to pangea?

It's been awhile since I listened to him too.

I love the way he describes the Bible as a message from outside the universe, written in spread-spectrum design and immune to hostile jamming.

Meaning you can tear a page out of It at random and still get the message It intends us to get.

Then why do we die. If evolution can harness this energy from the sun ... so much so that it overcomes the Second Law of Thermodynamics, what goes wrong?

Living organisms die because eventually the DNA copying mistakes of replacing cells adds up and . The cells division also shortens the telomeres that protect the chromosomes from being damaged . Plants tend not to have growth restrictions the way animals do which is why you can take a cutting from some plants and it will root and form a new plant. You can’t cut a limb from most animals and grow new animals from it but there are exceptions. You might be able to do that with a starfish. And some non-avian reptiles and amphibians can re grow limbs and tails

We must admit that the proponents of evolution were quite clever to come up with these terms but it is just a statement with no proof or real world examples. Let us make this personal a bit. You and I are succumbing to the 2nd Law every day. Yes our bodies are descending into chaos. We call it dying. When some little bit finally goes wrong enough we go to the doctors and they, being the outside intelligence, fix us up. DO we not live in this so called "open" system.

But not every human is dying. Some people are being born (or are growing). Are they defying thermodynamics too?
