My web site at rockytopva is over 500,000 views. While reading this thread I have wondered if I should not find a message on hell as I have RW Schambach's entire sermon library on mp3 files.
But... You really must be careful how you preach a hell fire message. Such a message must be done with a broken and an aching heart for the lost. If it is done so in arrogance and meanness people will really turn such a message off.
I grew up in a Pentecostal church and heard many sermons on hell. I was scared of ending up there!. But those sermons didn't help me. I ended up walking away from church for a few years. Here lately I have wondered why I do not hear ANY sermons preached on hell. I grew up Pentecostal and all those years I would hear preaching on hell fire, repent and give your life to Christ. Many times I saw the Holy Spirit convict people during these sermons and they would practically run to the altar. It seems here lately and has been happening for years now that preachers no longer preach on this matter. Why has everything turned into a pretty package, tickle your ears service?? Why have we strayed away from this? The preacher used to pour out his heart to the congregation, pleading the case of Jesus to turn from the wickedness of this world for there is a heaven and there is a hell, choose today who you will serve, repent for the time is drawing near. What happened to this teaching and preaching, it seems it has all but vanished?
You hear it plenty in some circles. But you won't hear anything about Hell from the more popular groups. That's how they stay popularI know what you mean, heard plenty myself. BUT NO DONT GET ME WRONG.....I dont think or want to hear it every week at all. Im referring to the fact that you totally do not hear it anymore.....nowhere.
I kept to myself in a more rural area and kept it more of the bible along with some church going. My family and I are finding that it's a really common thing even in Texas where they dilute it down.It seems that we have devalued to word of God.....thus is why our world is in such a mess. We have turned away from Him and went after the lust of the flesh. Now we are reaping that in a terrible way.
Tithing had nothing to do with the MILK of THE GOSPELNot really I asked what fellowship not denomination you are in. You clearly said you leaned toward Pentecostal. Fellowship - Assemblies of God - Praise Chapel, Calvary Chapel? Those are fellowships which are under the Pentecostal banner so to speak.
The reason I asked is because some are much more compromised than others. I am multi cultural too and I do not see what that has to do with our faith or sound doctrine. Yes many Pentecostals go over board, and there is down right carnal behavior in the appearance of hyper spirituality. The prosperity gospel has hijacked the Pentecostal movement in many regards and the fact you do not hear good ole fashion preaching that leads to repentance is because many of these so called pastors are really hirelings..........the fact you only hear milk ridden messages is because that is what the pastor is drinking milk...not meat...hence the 15 minutes dedicated to tithe message in every meeting and every other sermon seemingly having to do with tithe tithing or running over, pressed down and shaken together.
Tithing had nothing to do with the MILK of THE GOSPEL
Unless one fully understood the spiritual meaning behind. Bring all the tithes into the storehouse
100 percent truth right thereMy web site at rockytopva is over 500,000 views. While reading this thread I have wondered if I should not find a message on hell as I have RW Schambach's entire sermon library on mp3 files.

And we must deal with the wickedness.....not ignore it. Confront and deal with it. If we choose to think their is no wickedness, we have fooled ourself and not read the Bible as it is......Ephesians 6:12
For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places.
I apologize I get what you are saying. I was referring to the area I live in etc....I will find a better way to explain ( to be continued ) !!Not really I asked what fellowship not denomination you are in. You clearly said you leaned toward Pentecostal. Fellowship - Assemblies of God - Praise Chapel, Calvary Chapel? Those are fellowships which are under the Pentecostal banner so to speak.

This is why the FULL image of God of the character of God needs to be preached.I grew up in a Pentecostal church and heard many sermons on hell. I was scared of ending up there!. But those sermons didn't help me. I ended up walking away from church for a few years.
I chatted to someone once who had also been to the church. They left and ended up on the streets. He told me he never forgot the sermons about hell. They didn't have a positive impact on his life either
BTW you are going places.....keep on that path. You know things and are seeking out the truth!!! I applaud you my friend....stay hungry!!Ephesians 6:12

Yes, God IS about love.... but He is also about wrath.
He is NOT all doom and gloom, nor is He a pushover genie that exists to serve our every whim just cause we "Claim it"
Hell is to be preached, but if thats all you preach or hear there is no hope in that message. If all you preach or hear is the love of God its easy to get deceived into the devils lie "Surely a God of love is not going to send me to Hell." and one can lose the healthy fear of God.
If all we want is to have our ears tickled and ignore the vital messages of truth.....or to hear a message of darkness without any hope...... we have no business calling ourselves Christian.
It's not preached because it doesn't fill seats, and empty seats don't tithe. This is a "feel good" generation, they want their ears tickled, they want their sin to be minimized so they feel better about themselves. Want to still sin yet be a "Christian"? Come on in, we'll tell you what you want to hear! Honestly, I don't even like to be called "Christian" these days, as it conjures up all kinds of hypocrisy to non-believers. I prefer "disciple of Christ".
The good news of the cross needs to be preached alongside the end results of refusing to accept that good news, which is damnation. If you profess to believe God's Word as truth, you see that theme all through it. Jesus Himself taught on it. Hell is real and God in His infinite mercy does not want anyone to suffer it, but if you spit His grace back in His face and refuse to follow Jesus Christ, it awaits. In saying that, God doesn't send anyone to hell, we send ourselves when we refuse Him.
That's because we're Orthodox. We're always going to get balanced theology, et cetera. It's literally structured into everything. We will never have to wonder if things will be done properly. We're very blessed.the homily in our parish this past weekend (2/19) was on the final judgment.
