Do you believe that reluctance exposes attitude?
Yes, but it only exposes one layer or nuance of the human personality. Reluctance may also be variable in that it comes about for difference reason among each individual you encounter who "disagrees" with you.
For instance, you and I disagree about where the locus of God's Revelation is placed in the Old Testament, but the reason for this probably isn't for the reason that either you or I may posit about each others viewpoint. It could actually be due to something else, stemming from some other sets information or background circumstances. So, I don't assume that when I try to evaluate your mindset and vantage point, I have you all figured out. I don't and I won't pretend that I know, even if and when I know you're Independent Baptist.
Not that it matters all that much on the grand scale of things being that you and I are both (more or less) Maximalist, for instance, where the historicity of the bible may reflect archaeological evidences--however fragmentary they are. We both believe Moses was a literal person, who literally led the Hebrew people of the Lord out of Egypt, taking them away, even miraculously dividing the (Whatever, Whichever "Sea" it actually was)......to deliver them into a blessing of a land "flowing with milk and honey."
Atheists, similarly, will have actual reasons for why they doubt which neither you nor I will have any insight into directly. Sure, we might hit the nail on the head occasionally, but for the most part, we'll only be making guesses--even educated ones--about what reasons or forces are indeed at play in their expression of "
RELUCTANCE."
