How so? Are you saying I'm deceived about something? If you can read the word in it's original language you will see what I mean.James 1:22 comes to mind.
I am with you 100% the seventh day is the days of rest. There is Zero - nothing telling us what day of the modern week the seventh day is. The Roman Calendar didn't exist for millennia after the commandment. Here is another thought - we really do not know for a certainty what year this is. The Jewish Calendar gives us a date close to the year 6,000 - the current calendar separated B.C from A.D., but depending on what historian and Theologian you read after, there is a gap somewhere between 3 and 40 years between the last year B.C. and the first year A.D..What day did God rest? The scriptures tell us ever so plainly Genesis 2:1-3, Exodus 20:8-11, Hebrews 4:4
God did not give us the year at Creation, but He gave us the days and the weekly cycle has never changed regardless which calendar system one uses. The first day will always be the first day and the seventh day is the Sabbath. Exodus 20:10 Most old languages Saturday literally translates into Sabbath.I am with you 100% the seventh day is the days of rest. If we cannot even pin the year down, how can we pin down the day?
Thanks to modern tech we can read it in the originals language! How so? Are you saying I'm deceived about something? If you can read the word in it's original language you will see what I mean.
It's 'WORD(s)' just as Jesus is called the "WORD'.
Agreed - but what day of the modern week is it?God did not give us the year at Creation, but He gave us the days and the weekly cycle has never changed regardless which calendar system one uses. The first day will always be the first day and the seventh day is the Sabbath.
By chance, did you click on the link I provided?Agreed - but what day of the modern week is it?
Understanding that our current roman calendar assigned the days of the week.
Question - if we do not know what year it is - how do we know what day today is? What if today - Tuesday is actually Friday?

That isn't accurate at all.Regardless which calendar system one uses Sunday will always be the first day and Saturday will always be the seventh day.
That isn't accurate at all.
Ask most Americans and we see Monday as the first day of the week and Sunday as the seventh.
It is subjective at best. Remember that the words for the days of the week did not exist until the Romans.
I understand what you are saying - I just do not agree. IMHO it is flawed reasoning. Best to you!
Where did God command us to keep a year in the Ten Commandments? I already showed you how we trace back the week, but if you prefer the seventh day to be lost, I guess that's your free will. What day of the week is it today?
How do you know?
It amazes me also that we do not even know what years we are in, but are thoroughly convinced what day of the week it is.
I'm not lost since accepting Jesus as my Lord and Savior.Where did God command us to keep a year in the Ten Commandments? I already showed you how we trace back the week, but if you prefer it to be lost, I guess that's your free will.
For the record today is Thursday, tomorrow is Friday or the Preparation Day for the Sabbath.
My apologies if that came out wrong, I didn't mean you were lost, just the seventh day of the week is lost from what you said previously.I'm not lost since accepting Jesus as my Lord and Savior.
Thanks for your input. We agree on more than we disagree on.
Perhaps this is what Paul was expressing to the Church at Collosi.
Okie dokie! My apologies if that came out wrong, I didn't mean you were lost, just the seventh day of the week is lost from what you said previously.
I don't think the seventh day Sabbath is lost, it comes right after Friday and right before the first day of the week, just like in the scriptures.
Thanks to modern tech we can read it in the originals language!
James 1:22 - Word (logos) -
- a word, uttered by a living voice, embodies a conception or idea
If you go to Exodus 34 - the original for ten commandments breaks down as
Ten - עֶשֶׂר the number ten (eser)
Commandments - דָּבָר - speech, word, speaking, thing - dabar
Sure it is plural - there are ten - beyond that, I am not seeing more - can you please explain more in depth.
Thank you -According to Jewish tradition, G-d gave the Jewish people 613 Commandments (Mitzvot).
In the original Hebrew, the first ten of those Commandments are called the Ten Words. According to rabbinic teaching, these Ten Words are categories or classifications into which each of the 613 Commandments fall. G-d told Moses that these Ten Words formed a covenant between the people and G-d.
You're welcome.Thank you -
???My first staff position was in a messianic congregation - I am somewhat familiar -
I would say that about the Pagan Greeks and Romans but to disregard the ones entrusted to the words of God and given them directly I believe would be in error. My position is from a Christian perspective, the extra biblical Hebrew, Hellenistic and Roman traditions add flavor to the Word and that is about it (in my world). They carry little weight.
That's what I quoted.see post #44
Why couldn't it be the case that folks are simply concerned that we live in ways that adversely affect the environment in which we live?
