  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

I know there are people that believe there is free will. Where exactly is that? Is there a place between righteousness and sin? Can a person live such a life that neither offends God or sinners. Spiritual neutrality, a place that must be on the beach of life where everybody is just happy to be there, and the blue skies are abundant and it must be after retirement because I don't know anybody who could hold a job and not have a bad or evil thought cross their mind.

Neutrality could be in vacation land but idol time is not always good for the wandering mind. Maybe one can find neutrality in a place where the mind is occupied with interest that captivate and intrigue our greater senses.

It is a wearisome job trying to stay neutral when a raging war is being fought between good and evil. Good luck trying to stay neutral because you only have to stumble one time and it's all over.

People who are free can think and do what they want. Slaves do only what their master tells them. Sinners and Righteous folks only do what their masters tell them. But neutralist have their own agenda. Are there any neutralist out there who would share with us what it is like to not be a servant to God or Satan? Did Adam have a chance to be a neutralist?

in principle there is a neutral category and it should be the category of ordinary users that are irreligious and non-occult people, but since there is evilness, even such people should be careful not to cause evil to their neighbor/cohabitant

Blessings

With no laws, then there should be no reason to mess up and one should be able to rejoice with a wide range of freedom, with a great deal of leeway. There should be no need to overcome from anything, because one has no base to be behold'n too. Perfect, no commitment to any laws, no sin, nothing to stumble over. Neutrality, righteousness, and salvation with ease. Were not talking about a narrow trail to follow, but rather a super highway. Freewheelin down the autobahn of life. Love is then anything your mind justifies, and works are anything you want to do and justify. Religion made to order.
It sounds like you don't know what love is, it even sounds like you don't have any idea what love is.
Romans chapter 4
13 It was not through the law that Abraham and his offspring received the promise that he would be heir of the world, but through the righteousness that comes by faith. 14 For if those who depend on the law are heirs, faith means nothing and the promise is worthless, 15 because the law brings wrath. And where there is no law there is no transgression.

Let me give you an example of love.
Someone comes up to you and asks, can you spare anything to help me.
You could give them some change, you could give them a dollar, you could give them a twenty.
Love is all about helping people not judging them.
A hypocrite might say, their probably going to drink, and give them nothing.
Are you any closer to understanding.

I would think that a neutralist would desire no controversy. He could not be president as one poet said: (John Lydgate) "You can please some of the people all of the time, you can please all of people some of time, but you cannot please all the people all the time". This could probably be said for most people. Not Christ, He spoke the truth and His love was not about making friends in the flesh but doing God's will. His power was to execute judgment and make manifest God's will for which attracted the persecuters of the Church.

2Th 1:4 So that we ourselves glory in you in the churches of God for your patience and faith in all your persecutions and tribulations that ye endure:
2Th 1:5 Which is a manifest token of the righteous judgment of God, that ye may be counted worthy of the kingdom of God, for which ye also suffer:

Non-controversial people are less likely to pursue religion if it requires making a stand. Like people will indicate when they say: Don't talk about religion or politics.

I suspect one could write a book on things to do that are neutral, that is neither offensive to God or man:

List:
1.Walking the dog
2.Listening to a concert
3.Taking a walk
4.Watching butterflies
5.Shopping for Groceries
6.Eating and drinking
7.Playing an instrument
8.Going to the dentist or doctor
9.Playing Horseshoes, and tictactoe
10. Cleaning the dishes, and the house
11.Cooking or baking a cake
12. Flying a kite
13.Last but not Least: Mindlessness and having no feelings one way or the other
oh and 14.studying physics

Many things are not inherently good or evil, but perhaps there is more than is immediately obvious.

Doing the dishes, for example, can be a loving act of service to one's family, done for the sake of Christ. Walking the dog can be done for the added sake of keeping one's body in health to honor God's gift to us and while reflecting on seeing nature and appreciating God's wisdom and care in creating it. And so on. Our thoughts, motives, etc. can matter.

We can likewise perform "neutral" acts to the damage of our souls. We can eat to excess, damaging our bodies, or constantly focus on the pleasure of eating, and in that way strengthen the demands of the flesh to feel pleasure and make it harder to put it into submission to the spirit. We can scheme of ways to cheat, or even push a simple advantage, while playing a game. And so on.

Everything we do can be done to the glory of God, or in a way that weakens our spirit and distances us from God.

I see you argue for doing neither, but remaining neutral. I still don't understand what possible benefit you think can be had from being neutral. It can be possible, with effort, and controlling one's thoughts and inclinations, to strive to do nothing that either draws us closer to God nor explicitly pushes us further away. But those efforts will also necessarily fail sometimes - trying to aim for a narrow path touching neither side is harder than aiming for either side. And there is no benefit.

More importantly, we are given this life for the purpose to draw closer to God, if we will. To become good, become more like Christ. If we studiously make every effort to NOT do what God would have us do, we disobey, and that in itself is not neutral.

I simply can see no reason why a Christian would desire to do so.

Even better than that , give Him some money and share the Gospel with Him because physical wealth is not going to save anyone.

Here's my last try.
Matthew chapter 25 verses 31-46
When the Son of Man comes" in his glory, and all the angels with him, he will sit on his throne in heavenly glory. All the nations will be gathered before him, and he will separate the people one from another as a shepherd separates the sheep from the goats. he will put the sheep on his right and the goats on his left. Then the King will say to those on his right, Come, you who are blessed by my Father; take your inheritance, the kingdom prepared for you since the creation of the world. For I was hungry and you gave me something to eat, I was thirsty and you gave me something to drink, I was a stranger and you invited me in, I needed clothes and you clothed me, I was sick and you looked after me, I was in prison and you came to visit me. then the righteous will answer him, Lord, when did we see you hungry and feed you, or thirsty and give you something to drink? When did we see you a stranger and invite you in, or needing clothes and clothe you? When did we see you sick or in prison and got visit you? The King will reply, I tell you the truth, whatever you did for one of the least of these brothers of mine, you did for me. Then he will say to those on his left, Depart from me, you who are cursed, into the eternal fire prepared for the devil and his angels. For I was hungry and you gave me nothing to eat, I was thirsty and you gave me nothing to drink, I was a stranger and you did not invite me in, I needed clothes and you did not clothe me, I was sick and in prison and you did not look after me.They also will answer, Lord, when did we see you hungry or thirsty or a stranger or needing clothes or sick or in prison, and did not help you? He will reply, I tell you the truth, whatever you did not do for one of the least of these, you did not do for me. Then they will go away to eternal punishment, but the righteous to eternal life.

I think christianity in this world is most popular for playing as close to neutral as it can, so do not judge cause we would't want to stand out on anything or issue. The church's that play as close to the middle of the road are the most popular, playing on sympathies of people to give, and ministers and church's grow wealthier and the people feel content that they have done their part. Religion is big business, and the closer to the middle the more popular.

If clothing and feeding the poor in the flesh was all that Christ came to do, the Jews were already doing it, before He came. Doing good deeds was nothing new to people BEFORE CHRIST.
And do you not think I don't give to the poor? But if you must fill a need to reprove my wisdom, you should look a little closer at what I've written. I kinda know both sides of the story and I don't always write according to my view, but may even play the devils advocate to make a point.

my wisdom
Since you think your wise, here maybe you can add to your wisdom.
Matthew chapter 4 verse 4
Jesus answered, "It is written: 'Man shall not live on bread alone, but on every word that comes from the mouth of God.'"
Romans chapter 1 verse 28
Furthermore, just as they did not think it worthwhile to retain the knowledge of God, so God gave them over to a depraved mind, so that they do what ought not to be done.

John chapter 8 verse 31,32
To the Jews who had believed him, Jesus said, " If you hold to my teaching, you are really my disciples. Then you will know the truth, and the truth will set you free.
2 John
9 Anyone who runs ahead and does not continue in the teaching of Christ does not have God; whoever continues in the teaching has both the Father and the Son.
Job chapter 23 verse 12
I have not departed from the commands of his lips; I have treasured the words of his mouth more than my daily bread.

Matthew 11
28 “Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest. 29 Take my yoke upon you and learn from me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. 30 For my yoke is easy and my burden is light.”
Luke chapter 21
33 Heaven and earth will pass away, but my words will never pass away.
Romans chapter 10
17 Consequently, faith comes from hearing the message, and the message is heard through the word about Christ.
Mark chapter 13
31 Heaven and earth will pass away, but my words will never pass away.
James chapter 1
25 But whoever looks intently into the perfect law that gives freedom, and continues in it—not forgetting what they have heard, but doing it—they will be blessed in what they do.
James chapter 4
8 Come near to God and he will come near to you. Wash your hands, you sinners, and purify your hearts, you double-minded.
Isaiah chapter 45 verse 19
I have not spoken in secret, from somewhere in a land of darkness; I have not said to Jacob's descendants, 'Seek me in vain.' I, the LORD, speak the truth; I declare what is right.
Jeremiah chapter 9
24 but let the one who boasts boast about this:
that they have the understanding to know me,
that I am the Lord, who exercises kindness,
justice and righteousness on earth,
for in these I delight,”
declares the Lord.
Jeremiah chapter 5 verse 1
5 “Go up and down the streets of Jerusalem,
look around and consider,
search through her squares.
If you can find but one person
who deals honestly and seeks the truth,
I will forgive this city.

Your just flinging scriptures now, and I'm familiar with most of those scriptures.

When I use the scriptures, I like to show their spiritual intent, and that is faith which is hearing the Word with understanding. I do not have all wisdom, but I have some, and do think on it often. My source of wisdom is Great:

Deu 4:5 Behold, I have taught you statutes and judgments, even as the LORD my God commanded me, that ye should do so in the land whither ye go to possess it.
Deu 4:6 Keep therefore and do them; for this is your wisdom and your understanding in the sight of the nations, which shall hear all these statutes, and say, Surely this great nation is a wise and understanding people.
Deu 4:7 For what nation is there so great, who hath God so nigh unto them, as the LORD our God is in all things that we call upon him for?
Deu 4:8 And what nation is there so great, that hath statutes and judgments so righteous as all this law, which I set before you this day?

I believe these scriptures are referring to THE WORD OF GOD.

Btw, it is the hearts and salvation of men we are not to judge. We must sometimes judge actions, and fruit (but only when we truly must ... it's not a responsibility one should seek or enjoy). And we should constantly judge ourselves. But never the hearts or final destiny of others.

I would think that a neutralist would desire no controversy. He could not be president as one poet said: (John Lydgate) "You can please some of the people all of the time, you can please all of people some of time, but you cannot please all the people all the time". Non-controversial people are less likely to pursue religion if it requires making a stand. Like people will indicate when they say: Don't talk about religion or politics.

you describe precisely the ordinary users that are irreligious and non-occult by their nature - do you know how many secular citizens have preferred having a sheltered life to being involved/participating in a struggle/war?! - i don't mean they are bad for that

Maybe they're really hiding?

Rev 6:15 And the kings of the earth, and the great men, and the rich men, and the chief captains, and the mighty men, and every bondman, and every free man, hid themselves in the dens and in the rocks of the mountains;
Rev 6:16 And said to the mountains and rocks, Fall on us, and hide us from the face of him that sitteth on the throne, and from the wrath of the Lamb:
Rev 6:17 For the great day of his wrath is come; and who shall be able to stand?

Hiiding from the face as prefering darkness because they refuse to do judgment (come to the light).

Pro 21:7 The robbery of the wicked shall destroy them; because they refuse to do judgment.
Such churches are not my concern. It certainly isn't my experience where I am, and that suits me.

Ana, here is the scriptures your looking for:

Mat 6:19 Lay not up for yourselves treasures upon earth, where moth and rust doth corrupt, and where thieves break through and steal:
Mat 6:20 But lay up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where neither moth nor rust doth corrupt, and where thieves do not break through nor steal:
Mat 6:21 For where your treasure is, there will your heart be also.
Mat 6:22 The light of the body is the eye: if therefore thine eye be single, thy whole body shall be full of light.
Mat 6:23 But if thine eye be evil, thy whole body shall be full of darkness. If therefore the light that is in thee be darkness, how great is that darkness!
Mat 6:24 No man can serve two masters: for either he will hate the one, and love the other; or else he will hold to the one, and despise the other. Ye cannot serve God and mammon.

According to what Christ says here, you can only serve one master and He says nothing about being the master of your own destiny. Therefore, there can be no neutral ground. HEY DOES EVERYBODY HEAR THAT, well how do you yell on a computer? Glad we settled that.

It doesn't sound like a good reason to seek to be neutral though. And in the end, such efforts will fail, I fear ... either they will fail to be neutral, or they will fail to be truly Christian.

Btw, it is the hearts and salvation of men we are not to judge. We must sometimes judge actions, and fruit (but only when we truly must ... it's not a responsibility one should seek or enjoy). And we should constantly judge ourselves. But never the hearts or final destiny of others.

The judgment I am referring to is according to:

1Pe 4:17 For the time is come that judgment must begin at the house of God: and if it first begin at us, what shall the end be of them that obey not the gospel of God?
1Pe 4:18 And if the righteous scarcely be saved, where shall the ungodly and the sinner appear?
1Pe 4:19 Wherefore let them that suffer according to the will of God commit the keeping of their souls to him in well doing, as unto a faithful Creator.

This was the judgment light that made manifest the truth in Christ:

Zec 8:16 These are the things that ye shall do; Speak ye every man the truth to his neighbour; execute the judgment of truth and peace in your gates:

Joh 18:36 Jesus answered, My kingdom is not of this world: if my kingdom were of this world, then would my servants fight, that I should not be delivered to the Jews: but now is my kingdom not from hence.
Joh 18:37 Pilate therefore said unto him, Art thou a king then? Jesus answered, Thou sayest that I am a king. To this end was I born, and for this cause came I into the world, that I should bear witness unto the truth. Every one that is of the truth heareth my voice.

I guess some volcanoes loose their zeal and become extinct. Some just become dormant. Do you think that Christ has become dormant in this world but eventually the Earth will witness a supervolcano?

No, Christ is not dormant. He is alive and living, and active among His children all over the world.

As far as future desolation, I leave predicting the future to the gypsies, and pay no attention to them.

When it comes to traveling, i like to know the future, ie traffic jams anywhere, alternate routes etc.and I'm not saying He's not living but not so active here on earth. Ok, well, Do you think He is more active than the stock market?

Thank you for the Scriptures. I agree they are applicable but maybe it was someone else who was looking for them?

Forgive me, I have not been reading all of the responses in this thread - I was replying only to the OP. I apologize if I have caused any confusion about what I meant.

Maybe they're really hiding?

Rev 6:15 And the kings of the earth, and the great men, and the rich men, and the chief captains, and the mighty men, and every bondman, and every free man, hid themselves in the dens and in the rocks of the mountains;

Pro 21:7 The robbery of the wicked shall destroy them; because they refuse to do judgment.

and who are the "kings of the earth", the "great men", the "rich men", the "chief captains", the "mighty men", the "bondmen", and the "free men"?!; let's say we have an irreligious and non-occult man who is meek, quiet and harmless, and another man, who is very religious but brings stumbling blocks, twists, corruptions and temptations to the detriment of many people, because he commits spiritual unrighteousness/lawlessness/wickedness, which of these two men is more likely to be saved?! (remember the parable of the rich man, who was actually a clergyman of the jews' religion, and the poor man, Lazarus, who was actually irreligious - Luke 16:19-31)

i don't think that irreligious and non-occult people are sinful only because they are irreligious and non-occult, and that they are (much) worse than the religious ones that commit great spiritual unrighteousness/lawlessness/wickedness - can you remember Jesus saying in the Bible: "woe unto you, non-believers", or: "woe unto you, publicans"?! - He says that in the Gospels mostly to the religious people who commit spiritual unrighteousness/lawlessness/wickedness (to the scribes, pharisees, sadducees, etc. - remember also that the jew about whom He said that such rich people cannot enter into the Kingdom of God was (very) religious - Mark 10:17-26, remember also that He called sinners those who were (very) religious - John 9:39-41)

Blessings
