But I'll make this one: Wars aren't won by air forces. Wars are won by taking the ground and holding it. You haven't won the war until you can stand a 19-year-old with a rifle on their ground unopposed.
If people want to kill someone, they don't need a gun to do it. Ask anyone from the UK about their knife problem. Guns are an important part of American Republic and they are not going away in my lifetime. Well, I cannot argue that Australia has a much lower homicide rate than the United States. But the problem isn't guns. The problems are the issues that would lead a person to use a gun to take the life of another human being. Even if 100% of the guns in the United States where to magically vanish, I would expect a marginal change in homicide rates.And, as I said before, you can keep your love for guns on your side of the Pacific thanks. I fully admit that on the technicality you are right. I just don't think that comparing what is essentially no relationship to one of hundreds repression with poor treatment is the commenserate with a colonial power engaging respectfully and frequently with the indiginius population.
