sounds like you at least have a start. You could always go on a solo trek with a backpack and map out where you're going both Urban and off-road from wherever you are camping. And just have one of your family members pick you up. I think a mini excursion would give you a small taste of it. And maybe that's all you need:)
I did a star trek once when a shelf fell down on my head one day

I keep trying to think of "facts" that I could share about myself whenever I see this thread, but I am having trouble thinking of things. :ahem:
I remember long ago about the invention of a facts machine and I thought they make machines that do that?

Let's see, facts...

When I was a little girl I wanted to be a ballerina...and I still do! :p I also wanted to have long hair like in the fairytales, and now I never cut it. xD My dad always said I was the girl with a million faces, because I had a facial expression for everything and never could hide what I was feeling, and I think I'm still that way a bit. :ahem:

I highly doubt that nobody likes you. I think a lot has to do with the right time and place, plus the right connection and all that. There have been times I really liked another, but I knew it wasn't the right time or that it just wasn't meant to be, and there were also people who walked away from me. I'm really glad things never worked out for me with anyone and people walked away when they did, because I have grown so much since then and looking back I know that I wasn't ready and they just would not have worked out.

Fact: more than one time I've had strange serendipity moments that involve meeting people in far off places. Something that Carl Jung would call synchronicity. Or a connection with another person in a far off country.

Once I was running the Air Force half marathon in Ohio. As I was running there was a man in front of me that his legs had a girl's name on it. I was struggling and interestingly we ended up having about the same pace and encouraged each other. Interestingly I found out that the name on his legs was the name of his niece that died from leukemia, I think she was under 10 years old. He was a chief in the Air Force in Texas. We did the race together and finished together and took pictures but we never exchanged information.

4 months later well I was in finance there was an unusual offer for me to go to a 4-day conference in Dallas Texas for a conference unrelated to my field, air lift Tanker. It was amazing in itself that I stayed at a five-star hotel overlooking the parade route where John f Kennedy was shot. While at the conference, there were 2,000 people. What do you know the guy around with was there and we exchanged information and I got the photo from the finish line.

Another moment was really strange. I had worked on an island for 3 years in Japan and one of those years there was a teacher from Washington DC. She kept to herself and did not like to socialize and I only once talked her into a tea party at my place. My fourth year in Japan I was far away from the southern island north of Tokyo working in a city of a million. I had a lunch break and decided to hurry across the train station in down to the basement of a 14-story building where the grocery store was. What do you know, the person that worked on the island with me was there. I called out her name, her jaw dropped and she said she thought she saw a ghost. We never saw each other again after that, as I said she was a loner and I don't think she wanted to keep in touch.
Wow that's so amazing!!! I don't think those are coincidences. I definitely believe there is a reason we meet people at certain times and places or run into them more than once. Statistically speaking, just think of the chances of that happening with how many people are on the planet!

Agreed. I think it's just timing. @Alistair_Wonderland keep moving forward and keep growing. Invest in the relationships that are around you and continue to make good friends and more than likely it will happen.

Yes, I agree. The statistics boggle my mind, but at the same time both of those stories have a connection. One is the first one that we were both in the Air Force within the context of Air Force events. The other we were both living in Japan and foreigners. The one thing I thought was that there's many times we may pass by someone and not notice them.

Another interesting coincidence happened one evening that I got invited out for some drinks. I was so tired and didn't feel like it, but someone said I really need to go. There was some new trainees and found out someone was from my hometown. They couldn't make it but I talked with them by phone. And even better somehow I made a connection with a guy that was from my high school that was also living in Japan. And he had the same last name as me but we never hung out in the same groups.

The one key thing I found is that the more I've taken chances in conversations with strangers, doors have opened up and we found a mutual connection. To summers ago I was sitting at a car place, not in the same town, and I began talking with the girl that was next to me. She seemed fascinated by my story somehow and we made a connection that she had been working with somebody that was a media relationships director at my agency before. She wanted me to get together with her and finally when I did, I found even more connections with the friends that I had brought that knew of her. I think when you're in the same state it's not as significant as when you are traveling across States or countries. I'd like to say that there was some meaning or purpose from the Lord, and maybe there was, but I might not know till I get to heaven.
