So it's OK to massacre children in some contexts?Hey, Lamb, good to see you back posting again!
Yes ... same God ... different context.
The answer to this challenge is: CONTEXT.
It is the context that reconciles the two [seeming] contradictory passages.
Ecclesiastes 3:3 A time to kill, and a time to heal; a time to break down, and a time to build up;
The Bible has no contradictions,it’s completely infallible.Perhaps I could help with the “contradictions” you see and helpThe entire point is that the two passages can't be reconciled, because the Bible is full of contradictions.
The Bible was written by many different people over centuries and is internally inconsistent. If you are an atheist that believes God sactioned acts of genocide in the Bible, this challenge is for you.
Reconcile ...
Exodus 20:13 Thou shalt not kill.
... with ...
Jeremiah 18:21 Therefore deliver up their children to the famine, and pour out their blood by the force of the sword; and let their wives be bereaved of their children, and be widows; and let their men be put to death; let their young men be slain by the sword in battle.
Are you talking about abortion? So it's OK to massacre children in some contexts?
Then why does the NT quote from it often? The Bible was written by many different people over centuries and is internally inconsistent.
Read the context, chief. No, massacres of the kind in Jeremiah 18:21.
The context as I read the OP that you laid out is that this is about reconciling the genocide of Jeremiah 18:21 with the Exodus 20:13 statement "Though shall not murder".Read the context, chief.
Jeremiah is asking the LORD to do those things mentioned in verse 21.
The LORD's reply is in the next chapter, in which He says He is going to withdraw His protection and let Israel's enemies do that.
And don't overlook the point I made in my first reply to you.
It's ... ironic ... that science sanctions the massacre of millions of children per year in peacetime, while railing against massacres in the Bible, during wartime.
That word "genocide" can fool a person, can't it?The context as I read the OP that you laid out is that this is about reconciling the genocide of Jeremiah 18:21 with the Exodus 20:13 statement "Though shall not murder".
It appears to me that your changing the subject.
When genocide is so clearly spelled out in the Bible such as in Deuteronomy 20:16-18, I've wondered about it's sanitizing by believers. That word "genocide" can fool a person, can't it?
Do you spell abortion G-E-N-O-C-I-D-E?When genocide is so clearly spelled out in the Bible such as in Deuteronomy 20:16-18, I've wondered about it's sanitizing by believers.
Read the OP for context.Do you spell abortion G-E-N-O-C-I-D-E?
If not, I don't want to hear it about your view of genocide in the Bible.
How long did Noah's flood last? The Bible has no contradictions,it’s completely infallible.Perhaps I could help with the “contradictions” you see and help
The Flood, including cleanup, lasted one year. How long did Noah's flood last?
