A human being consists of body, soul and spirit .
What I want to know from these guys is if there is a third "thing" that exists, other than mass matter and energy, that makes up a human being and is just as well-known as the other two (matter & energy).

I rule out such things as sapience, intelligence, and life, because they can come back and say those are intangibles that really aren't studied in the physical sciences.

And although one poster pointed out that mass and energy are interchangeable, had I asked:

"Are we anything other than energy?" I'm sure they would have come back and said, "Yes, we're mass."

The best answer I've seen so far is NO.

One said "substance" was the wrong word to use, but won't tell me what the right one is, and I suspect it's because science doesn't know; and if you ask the right questions and challenge people to give you a straight answer and not accept their vague replies, you'll quickly find you can easily tongue-tie these educated people up and bring them just shy of saying, "I don't know."

If you can reduce people to ridiculing you, you can assume you've asked questions that are embarrassing them.

Not sure how this is supposed to answer my question.
Please forgive my lack of intelligence

But in simple understanding, what is so difficult to understand about the difference between human beings and other "things"?

Thank you for explaining

Rationale then

(But that can't be measured either and it is no different than intelligence)

Do human beings consist of anything other than mass and energy? if so, what?

And I don't want vague answers like "sapience" or "intelligence" or "life"; I want concrete answers consisting of substances that all scientists say exist.

If there is a third substance that all scientists recognize that separates a human being from a rock or a lead pencil or a toothbrush, what is it?

Can you answer in one word, or two words tops?

Eternal soul

Obviously the answer from a Christian is going to be soul. My interpretation of the original question was that this answer was not allowed.

If it is allowed - that is the answer - soul.

I totally agree ... from a Christian perspective, man is body, soul, and spirit.

But from raw science, man has no more [substance] than a rock; i.e., he is just mass & energy.

Unless, of course, there is a third [ingredient] that has been discovered that we uneducateds aren't aware of.

And apparently not.

No problem.

What makes you feel I don´t understand the difference?
It wasn´t me who was asking questions loaded with doubtful preassumptions - it was the OP.

How is that a loaded question

Can you deny that the only thing that distinguishes a human being from other things (whether animate or inanimate) is their ability to use their inner immeasurable invisible intellect to reason?

You can't deny it so what is that and where did this inner and hidden ability come from?

It's there sir
Regardless

Every human being is made up of three parts:

Body (measurable and visible)

Soul and spirit (immeasurable and invisible)

regardless of the other names attached to the human being (scientist, Christian, lawyer, tax collector, prostitute, drug addict, accountant, doctor) all have these same components

Now is it possible that certain of these human beings are speaking truth that there is indeed something outside of man who is also invisible and immeasurable?

Or is there something wrong with the invisible components of that particular group of human beings?

Or is it too heightened in this particular group of beings?

And if so, who/what is responsible for that heightening?

Doubtful presumptions?

Which group of human beings hold to this thought?

And why?

Some who are so wise in their eyes by the worlds standard hold to their intellect as something they have obtained and achieved

And a prize to be flaunted as an expression of their superior intellect over others

I am not wise
I am not brilliant

And the wisdom which I have received, I don't really want or need because it is uncomfortable and it hurts my heart

Why?

Because it is a matter of life and death

I used to hold back THE TRUTH for fear of offending men

Now I don't

And I don't care if those who are brilliant think me foolish

I really don't care
And that is probably why I have been given all that I have been given to know

My faith now is a matter of fact and rational faith

A get up and go faith
It just is

But It wasn't at first
It took a Damascus road/hit over the head undeniable conversion to get me to turn around

TRUTH is TRUTH
And in the end, all the debates and arguments for and against still will not rule out that TRUTH will remain TRUTH

May GOD open the eyes and ears of the hearts of men to the HIDDEN TRUTH of HIS MOST UNFATHOMABLE BEAUTY AND WISDOM
