I have come to terms with it and I don't place a great deal of credence, in stories written by anonymous authors, which can't be reconciled, with well evidenced reality.

Coming to terms about something implies a desire (at one time) in searching something out

It implies you didn't receive what you wanted and so you gave up and settled

Coming to terms about something always implies a defeat a failure at not receiving the desired results and so you came to terms with this

To me, the phrase coming to terms with something, means you have evaluated whatever it is and have settled on a view point.
