Do human beings consist of anything other than mass and energy? if so, what?

And I don't want vague answers like "sapience" or "intelligence" or "life"; I want concrete answers consisting of substances that all scientists say exist.

If there is a third substance that all scientists recognize that separates a human being from a rock or a lead pencil or a toothbrush, what is it?

Can you answer in one word, or two words tops?

You should have specifically disqualified the words "emergent" and "phenomena" too. ;)

Is that because science doesn't recognize anything outside of mass and energy?

No. It's because "mass" is a very general term. In order to properly distinguish between an rock and a human one would have to describe the mass of each - the molecules that make them up, how these molecules are organized, etc.

Also, mass and energy are not independent.

You have "poisoned the well" by limiting acceptable responses to the strictly material. Christians, and these are after all Christian Forums, believe that human beings also consist of non-material things like thoughts and emotions and spirit. As EpiscalMe said your question makes no sense to Christians.

Then skip the rock.

Just tell me what substance humans have that isn't considered mass or energy.

What material?

I already accounted for mass and energy.

What's left that can be quantified and manipulated in a laboratory?

As others have said, you have "poisoned the well."

A Christian would point to the presence of a soul, but you disallowed that.

An atheist would say that matter and energy are all there is.

So what is the point of your question? It makes no sense.

Nothing that I know of. But if you have a point please make it. If you're wanting to place our faith on the horns of some materialist dilemma then state plainly what you think that dilemma is.

No. [thread answered]
No, I can't.

Mass and energy aren't substances.

Its a very clumsily worded question but the answer is no.

I'm a little short on technospeak.

I would love to know how I could have asked this question better.

Any ideas?

Since all matter is made of protons, neutrons and electrons, is there a fourth particle type that sets Donald Trump's hair apart from a napkin?

To be fair his questions rarely make sense to us atheists either.
Evidently science is progressing beyond the ability to rephrase simple questions put to it.

We call that the Babel Effect.
