Matthew 5:19
So then, whoever breaks one of the least of these commandments and teaches others to do likewise will be called least in the kingdom of heaven; but whoever practices and teaches them will be called great in the kingdom of heaven.

In context...

Mat 5:17 Think not that I am come to destroy the law, or the prophets: I am not come to destroy, but to fulfil.
Mat 5:18 For verily I say unto you, Till heaven and earth pass, one jot or one tittle shall in no wise pass from the law, till all be fulfilled.

Christ came to fulfill the Law of Moses, since He is the only one who ever kept it perfectly. See John 19:30.
Paul confirms the temporary nature of the Sinai Covenant in Galatians 3:16-29. Paul said the law was "added" 430 years "after" the promise made to Abraham "until" the seed (Christ) could come to whom the promise was made.

Mat 5:19 Whosoever therefore shall break one of these least commandments, and shall teach men so, he shall be called the least in the kingdom of heaven: but whosoever shall do and teach them, the same shall be called great in the kingdom of heaven.

Anyone who teaches others to lie, steal, or kill, is not following God.

Mat 5:20 For I say unto you, That except your righteousness shall exceed the righteousness of the scribes and Pharisees, ye shall in no case enter into the kingdom of heaven.
Mat 5:21 Ye have heard that it was said by them of old time, Thou shalt not kill; and whosoever shall kill shall be in danger of the judgment:
Mat 5:22 But I say unto you, That whosoever is angry with his brother without a cause shall be in danger of the judgment: and whosoever shall say to his brother, Raca, shall be in danger of the council: but whosoever shall say, Thou fool, shall be in danger of hell fire.
Mat 5:23 Therefore if thou bring thy gift to the altar, and there rememberest that thy brother hath ought against thee;
Mat 5:24 Leave there thy gift before the altar, and go thy way; first be reconciled to thy brother, and then come and offer thy gift.
Mat 5:25 Agree with thine adversary quickly, whiles thou art in the way with him; lest at any time the adversary deliver thee to the judge, and the judge deliver thee to the officer, and thou be cast into prison.
Mat 5:26 Verily I say unto thee, Thou shalt by no means come out thence, till thou hast paid the uttermost farthing.
Mat 5:27 Ye have heard that it was said by them of old time, Thou shalt not commit adultery:
Mat 5:28 But I say unto you, That whosoever looketh on a woman to lust after her hath committed adultery with her already in his heart.

In the verse above Christ quotes from the Old Covenant, and reveals the higher standard of the New Covenant with the words "But I say...".

There are two separate sets of commandments in the verse below.

Joh 15:10 If ye keep my commandments, ye shall abide in my love; even as I have kept my Father's commandments, and abide in his love.

I am not come to destroy, but to fulfil.
Jesus said: "It is finished" before I was conceived and before I was born. His work was finished before He began to do a work in my life. There is what Jesus does for us. There is also what Jesus is able to do in us and through us.

beautifully shown to us as Jacob fleeing rests on the Rock and the Ladder connecting heaven and earth. Interestingly enough the Passover is considered to be like a ladder where every step leads you up until you are in His Presence.

Is it telling that we are told that He was crucified on a tree? Scripture has revealed to us what that tree is and why all who die on that particular tree is cursed.

Prophet......Lamb of God.......Son of God........Repent!
[The Muslims of course believe this this Mohamed being spoken of]

Deuteronomy 18:
18 A Prophet I will raise up to them
from within/07130 qereb brothers of them as you.
And I give My words in His mouth, and He speaks to them all which I shall instruct Him.
19 And becomes the man who not is listening to My words which He shall speak in My name, I shall require from him. [Acts 3:22/Acts 7:37]

John 1:29
The on-morrow John is looking and seeing Jesus coming toward him and is saying, "Behold! the Lamb of the GOD, the one taking away the Sin of the World";
34 And I have seen, and have witnessed, that this-one is the Son of the God.'
[Revelation 2:18]

Matthew 17:5

Still of Him speaking, behold! a luminous cloud overshadows them and behold! a Voice out of the cloud saying
"this is being the Son of Me, the Beloved One, in Whom I am pleased<2106>,
be ye hearing Him!
[Mark 9:7 Luke 9:34-35]

Acts 3:22 For Moses indeed [*toward the fathers] is saying:
'That a prophet to ye shall be raising up, Lord the God of ye, out of the brothers of ye as Me.
Of Him ye shall be hearing/akousesqe according to all as much as ever He should be speaking toward ye. [Deut 18:18-19/Acts 7:37]

Revelation 2:18
And to the messenger of the assembly in Thyatira, write!
Now this is saying the Son of the GOD, the One having the eyes of Him as flame of fire, and the feet of Him as to burnished-brass.

Kindgdom Bible Studies Revelation Series

The church in Thyatira has a longer message delivered to it from Jesus Christ than any of the seven churches, although it is interesting to note that the church there is the smallest of the seven, and the city of Thyatira is the smallest of the seven cities..
“These things saith the Son of God, who hath His eyes like unto a flame of fire, and His feet are like fine brass; I know thy works, and charity, and service, and faith, and thy patience, and thy works; and the last to be more than the first.

Notwithstanding I have a few things against thee, because thou sufferest that woman/wife Jezebel, which calleth herself a prophetess, to teach and to seduce my servants to commit fornication, and to eat things sacrificed unto idols” (Rev. 2:18-20).

I am doing a study of the Tree of he Knowledge of Good and Evil. Also there is the Tree of Life. So yes a tree is very symbolic.

The identity of the Tree is found in its name and what it caused. The fruit reserved for God alone was knowledge but not all knowledge very specific knowledge, knowledge of good and evil. Knowledge that at the time belong to God alone. So the question becomes why would Satan want man to gain that knowledge and God said on the day you eat it you will die. Wouldn't knowing what is evil help men to avoid doing what is evil? That would be mans way but God's way is different from ours. At this point in time all man knew was that everything was good and in his own case very good. God never intended man to place himself under what that tree represents, The Law. Paul tells us it is impossible to know what sin is unless the Law revealed it to him. How did Adam and Eve become aware of their sin if not from the same Law that told Paul told them. As long as Man was not under Law Satan could not touch him. Satan had to get them to leave God's Grace for the Tree of the Knowledge of Good and Evil and in eating the fruit they died. Law we are told is the Ministry of Death wielded by the Angel of Death anti-Christ.

Now the Good Shepherd, the Christ, came seeking His lost sheep. The Good Shepherd called His sheep and hearing His voice they came. The Law had already begun doing the work of Satan in us. We had walked in perfect fellowship with the Christ and each other in the Garden. Now with the knowledge of good and evil we became judges, We judged Satan, we judged each other and most stunningly with the knowledge of good and evil, the Kaw, we accused the Lord for having given Adam the woman Eve he had pining over. We are not free to live anyway we want to we now serve under the Royal Law of Love or Grace when Love is in action. A Law that has what the written Law does not have the Power for us to live as we are called to in The Beatitudes and various other connected teachings. Satan if he cannot get us to forsake Grace entirely for Law he will seek to have you combine it as we see in the walk of so many people. Who believe as Adam and Eve did this would help them be pleasing to the Lord. The world also took the way of Law over Grace and look at what has taken place judging people, places, events and for some either judging how we like or dislike the things the Lord is doing. Why He allowed bad for the redeemed, good for the evil. We like Lot have settled into Sodom and Gomorrah and like Lot we moved into the gate of the city where the government was run from. Just as we are now trying to change the people of Sodom through legislation. It does not work as we are robbed of our Peace, etc. While Abraham who remained an alien and a stranger in this world had perfect fellowship with the Lord.

Some say Jesus was crucified on a large stake while some say it was a stake with a cross beam.

According to Josephus, 1000's of Jews were crucified during the siege of 70ad Jerusalem.[both Jewish Rebels and common Jews].
The making of the crosses/stake [especially the cross beam cross], along with the wooden siege equipment would have pretty much decimated the trees in and around Judea......[shown at bottom of post]

The Siege of Jerusalem : Christian Courier

Titus surrounded the city and hoped the display of force would convince the Jews to surrender. It did not. The city had natural defenses by cliffs on all sides except the north. Thus he attacked there. His war machines broke through the first of three walls in early May. Within five days, they were through the second.
Food rations inside the city were scarce. During the nights, ghostly figures would sneak through hidden passages to steal food amid supplies from the soldiers’ tents. Titus decreed that those captured were to be crucified.
A forest of crosses littered the countryside as trees were stripped off the land to satisfy the orders for crucifying some 500 Jews per day (cf. Matthew 27:25).

Seems Moses was not considered a Prophet but a messenger that God spoke plainly to without having to go through visions and dreams.

Numbers 12

1 And Miriam and Aaron spake against Moses because of the Ethiopian woman whom he had married: for he had married an Ethiopian woman. 2 And they said, Hath the LORD indeed spoken only by Moses? hath he not spoken also by us? And the LORD heard it. 3 (Now the man Moses was very meek, above all the men which were upon the face of the earth.) 4 And the LORD spake suddenly unto Moses, and unto Aaron, and unto Miriam, Come out ye three unto the tabernacle of the congregation. And they three came out. 5 And the LORD came down in the pillar of the cloud, and stood in the door of the tabernacle, and called Aaron and Miriam: and they both came forth.
6 And he said, Hear now my words: If there be a prophet among you, I the LORD will make myself known unto him in a vision, and will speak unto him in a dream.
7 My servant Moses is not so, who is faithful in all mine house.

8 With him will I speak mouth to mouth, even apparently, and not in dark speeches; and the similitude of the LORD shall he behold: wherefore then were ye not afraid to speak against my servant Moses?

Isn’t it great being able to talk of Him and those he used in His Word? Very nice presentation and thoughtful but I must disagree. Deuteronomy tells of a Prophet who was to come who was greater than moses. Moses was and is considered the greatest prophet by apostate Israel having rejected Christ. Moses unlike the other prophets spoke with Lord face to face. The other prophets received dreams, Visons and the like. It’s pretty clear that the way the verse is structured that the promised greater Prophet was being compared to Moses as a prophet.

No prophet was greater than John the Baptist, so John, according to Jesus was greater than Moses. Yet Jesus far surpassed & was greater than either one as a Prophet, Priest & King. He is God the Son, the King of kings & the Lord of lords!

John 1:
24The ones who had been sent were from the Pharisees. 25They asked him, "Why then do you baptize, if you are not the Christ, nor Elijah, nor the prophet?"
[Malachi 3:1]
26John answered them, "I baptize in water, but among you stands one whom you don't know.
27He is the one who comes after me, who is preferred before me, whose sandal strap I'm not worthy to loosen." 28These things were done in Bethany beyond the Jordan, where John was baptizing.
29The next day, he saw Jesus coming to him, and said, "Behold, the Lamb of God, who takes away the sin of the world! 30This is he of whom I said, 'After me comes a man who is preferred before me, for he was before me.' 34I have seen, and have testified that this is the Son of God."

Mat 3:7
But when he saw many of the Pharisees and Sadducees coming to his baptism, he said to them,

“Brood of vipers! Who warned you to flee from the wrath to come? [fulfilled in 70ad]

THE MELCHIZEDEK CONNECTION

One of the most intriguing descriptions of the unique character of the High Priesthood of Jesus is found in Heb. 7:17 wherein it is stated, "Thou art a priest forever after the order of Melchizedek." This one grand statement shows that Jesus is not like any of the other priests who the people of Israel knew so much about. The entire seventh chapter of Hebrews is about THE MELCHIZEDEK CONNECTION, that is, it is about the way Jesus Christ, and thus, His body, the Royal Priesthood, is related to a strange man named Melchizedek.
And the connection between Jesus Christ and Melchizedek is worth exploring
. Let's take a look at the Melchizedek Connection.

Hebrews 7:1
For this Melchizedek, king of Salem, priest of the Most High God, who met Abraham returning from the slaughter of the kings and blessed him,

As usual love reading the studies you assemble and your illustrations are second to none the one of the journey to Calvary by Jacob is one of my favorites. Having the cross being carried next to it is great. I wish I was an artist I would like to know if that same picture carrying the cross could be done as a shadow underneath him.

m my error . remnant of a sentence about the apostate portion of Israel's rejecting Christ with that rejection it ruled out Christ or John or any other N.T. So apostate Israel believes, correctly the passage speaking about the greater Prophet is the Messiah. The apostate portion of Israel believes Moses was the greatest prophet because God spoke to him face to face and without apocalyptic imagery etc. Sorry for the confusion.

The Law had already begun doing the work of Satan in us.
You should read the 119 psalm to see how much David delights himself in the law of God. Clearly the law was given to show us the way of life, health, blessing and prosperity.

I have chosen the way of truth; I have set my heart on your laws.
31
I hold fast to your statutes, O LORD; do not let me be put to shame.

I run in the path of your commands, for you have set my heart free.

Thank you Vicky.

I am studying the trumpets in Revelation in relation to the trumpets of the Roman army during the Jewish wars leading up to 70ad........so many studies, so little time..........

Joshua 6 [7 Priests-7 trumpets-shofars] and Revelation [7 Messengers-7 trumpets]

Joshua 6

4 And seven Priests carry seven trumpets of rams' horns in front of the Ark.
Then on the seventh day, march around the City seven times, while the Priests blow the trumpets.
13 Then seven Priests bearing seven trumpets of rams' horns before the Ark of the LORD went on continually and blew with the trumpets.
And the armed men went before Them.
But the rear guard came after the Ark of the LORD, while the Priests continued blowing the trumpets.

Revelation 8:
2 And I saw the seven Messengers which stood before God,
and to Them were given seven trumpets.
6 And the seven Messengers having the seven trumpets make ready Themselves that They should be trumpeting<4537>.

Visual Timeline of the Roman-Jewish War ARTchive

Some interesting info on the 1st century trumpets........

Revelation 8 Commentary- Plagued by Trumpets
The Roman Assault on Israel Began around the Feast of Trumpets Hence the Seven Trumpets of Revelation—Thus Began the Jewish War.

In A.D. 66 while Judea was aflame in bloodshed, riot and revolt, Rome responded by sending the 12th legion in addition to thousands of auxiliaries from neighboring kingdoms. These troops, as if orchestrated by God, arrived in Jerusalem in the Jewish month of Tishri, a month that begins with the Feast of Trumpets.
Called the Day of Judgment, it is on this day that trumpets sound the somber days of atonement and final judgment (Leviticus 23:24, Numbers 29:1).
Thus began the Jewish War.3
The A.D. 70 Doctrine View, Interpretation, Exposition and Commentary of Revelation 8: In Every Event that Fulfills the Seven Trumpets of Revelation an Audible Trumpet Sound Was Heard.
===========

Jewish Roots: The Sound Of The Trumpet
For if the Trumpet makes an uncertain sound, who will prepare for battle?
(1 Corinthians 14:8).

The Apostle Paul used the Roman military trumpet as a metaphor for spiritual battle. First-century historian Josephus wrote that the Roman army did nothing, except by trumpet signals. He listed three specific trumpet sounds, all of which can be devotionally applied.

The first trumpet was a signal to prepare to depart. "Now when they are to go out of their camp, the trumpet gives a sound."(1) The Bible believer should be ready to depart swiftly for any field of conflict as ordered, always ready to fight the good fight of faith (1 Tim. 6:12; 2 Tim. 4:7).

The second trumpet was a signal to form up: "Then do the trumpets sound again, to order them to get ready for the march."(1) At this stage, a believer should have on the whole armor of God.
The Lord wants skilled warriors, lined up with others, who will do battle against the wiles of the Devil (Eph. 6:11).

The third trumpet sound was the order to march: "Then do the trumpets give a sound a third time, that they are to go out."(1) Some have suggested that this is the equivalent of "the last trumpet" that Paul referred to in 1 Corinthians 15:52 concerning the Rapture of the church: Behold, I tell you a mystery: We shall not all sleep, but we shall all be changed--in a moment, in the twinkling of an eye, at the last trumpet. For the trumpet will sound, and the dead will be raised incorruptible, and we shall be changed (1 Cor. 15:51-52).

This trumpet may also point to the personal resolve of a believer to march out to serve Christ, to stand against all challenges to God's kingdom, and to be willing to endure hardships like a good soldier (2 Tim. 2:3).
