How about us MI believers on this forum get together for a BBQ, picnic or meeting in a restaurant somewhere? It would be a great way for us socialize and encourage each other spiritually?  What do you all think about that, especially on a Saturday or Sunday afternoon? I'm willing to be the "point man" for this!:D
PM me if your interested!

Would that not be something? What part of the state are you located?

A Michigan thread with fellow NASCAR fans?!? This is the BEST!
Paw Paw here!

Hi to you and I read your profile page... thank you for sharing.....bitter sweet...but in our Lord's arms...
and it is nice to meet you...

I work during the time of all the races.... my second job...
though I enjoy it through the fans... most who are pretty decent... not sure what it is like at the track- though my children who have worked there have shared stories about pretty far out behavior...where do you stay when you come to the races at MIS?

we drive back and forth from home - it takes us about 2 1/2-3 hours

The campground I work at is about 4- 5 miles from MIS.
We have many repeats because of having a pool, golf course, and being by Hayes State Park... and its grassier and not so crazy I have been told then the track.

The racetrack is down to two big races next year. I think they might try and do some big concerts - at least that is what I was told....not sure who... I probably will be working
I have two in college....

....CART and MIS didn't renew their contract after 33 races in 2001, in part because of dwindling attendance.
"Hopefully, the IRL will want to come back, but if they don't, we'll be prepared to move on," Curtis said. "We're not going to just sit here with two NASCAR races and say that's it. I've been here since May of last year and I didn't come here to just tread water.
"We're looking into how much it would cost to bring back the road course that used to be here along with other uses for the facility such as concerts and festivals," he said......

So who is from Michigan??

Jeff

South Eastern Michigan here!
 Well how bout that...my name is also Jeff and I also live in southeastern Michigan!

We moved here in July of 2006 from California, and now live in Royal Oak. We truly love it here!

Here parents moved here too and live in Ortonville, and my parents pastor a church in Greenville, which is northeast of Grand Rapids.

Despite the troubles Michigan is experiencing we have fallen in love with the beauty and people here. Let's all pray for this great state and do our best to make it better.:amen:

I reccommend not buying a house, and if you lose your job be ready to leave Michigan.

I lived in South Eastern Michigan and tried making a living as a teacher and that was bad let me tell you. I moved to Florida where they need teachers, they got too many of those in Michigan.

For those who can; it is a buyers market if the person has the money. I live in the Irish Hills area and many homes are up for sale or in foreclosure. :(
We have many lakes in this area and many beautiful homes- lake front that would be an excelllant investment...

There simply is not enough money for schools. The amount of money that comes into the school - does not change. I have suggested to the school I work with an idea that would teach and earn the schoool money, but I have not heard very much on the suggestion...I am sure others have before me...and there are probably many rules and regulations concerning this. The only way a school can get extra money is if taxes rise- which the people have approved in the past but probably would not now.

And I have not been to Royal Oak for many years.....

Are you from here in Michigan? I'm sorry things didn't go well for you here as a teacher - it does seem like there are a LOT of people around here becoming teachers. I hope you have a fabulous job in Florida!
