CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

I'm about a five minute walk from the state Capitol.
If the fear of not being shot at is something you find very attractive in a neighborhood, I wouldn't suggest coming out to visit with me. *lol*

I enjoy my low crime rate area.
When I was younger I lived in Highland Park for about 5 years. We called it baby Beruit. Then a couple of years in Detroit, not as bad as Highland Park but still lively. So, even though I prefer peace and quiet I can handle myself in rougher areas.
Lansing... they were hit pretty hard by the economy too. Losing as much automotive business as we have it has been very hard on Michigan in general. Though Lansing and the surrounding areas were probably hit the hardest. I am not for our current situation with the WTO (World Trade Orhanization) and think off shoring is causing a break down of our society in part. But I have lived in Michigan my whole life and will probably die here.

I am just outside of Grand Rapids, but still have a GR address, in Ottawa county its actually part of Walker I believe.
