I agree but there may be areas where it isn't so easy because of the terrain and I believe there is a river as well. I'm not sure that they have the manpower and/or the technology without our help. We'll have to see what happens before we declare victory. They should be able to close their southern border rather quickly. The map shows it is quite a bit shorter than ours. There is also a 'choke point' to the west of the actual border that could be a more effective stopping point.

This is one way they negotiated.Given the kick back that the president was getting from both democrats and republicans on the Mexican tariffs, I suspect that both parties caved a little.
As a parent and grandparent I can see that these parents must be desperate to get their children to safety, even if it means sending the children to family or friends in the US. It's got to be so hard and it's heartbreaking for all of them. Some years ago I listened to a United Nations refugee official concerning the state of mind of the refugees. He said in essence that they have come to the realization that are dead in a matter of days or weeks if they stay where they are. The threat may be starvation or disease or slavery or violent persecution. Realizing this, they are willing to take the most desperate chances to save them selves and their families. "When you are dead it doesn't matter."
However, as part of that deal, it appears the U.S. did not get Mexico to agree to a "safe third country" agreement where asylum seekers would be granted asylum in Mexico and unable to claim asylum in the U.S. Instead, the administration says it will expand its policy of deporting asylum seekers to Mexico to await adjudication of their cases. Mexico will accept those people and offer them services like health care and education.
You're not serious, are you?Sounds like the next step would be annexation of Mexico!?
Won’t that be fun?
No, the last thing we want is Mexico to be part of the US. Part of the problem is the rights imposed in our laws. To stop refugees, we need a country that doesn't have the press looking over them demanding that people be treated humanely.Sounds like the next step would be annexation of Mexico!?
Won’t that be fun?
Congratulations to Trump. Let us hope the fallout for his methods are minor.
They likely are not, however that very idea has been promoted here before. You're not serious, are you?
What are you seeing as possible fallouts?
But that's kind of a racist thing to say right? The violent tyranny and crime seen in those countries seems to be part of their DNA, for what's it's worth.
