  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

I didn't feel like I was cheating because my head knew I was allowed and that he was dead...however, my soul felt a connection and married....it was strange but it didn't really matter. It was more like when you do something for one of your children, you don't really feel like you are cheating your other child out of something...there is room for both.

So I spend most of the weekend at my house working on my electrical and putting up some sheetrock in the bathroom. I felt like I made some good progress. I did talk to the neighbor and we plan to finish the electrical in the apartment next Sat. Then get that inspected and one major job done!

Also the vinyl fence was delivered. So another major job!

I had allergies all weekend! Happy Mother's Day to all the mothers here!

My oldest son took me out to lunch after church. We went to Red Robin and there wasn't even a line! Awesome! Otherwise I totally wasted my day trying to get my sinus's to feel better. Still going strong today. After work I am taking my youngest son to get his permit YIKES! I just realized that my days of having to pick him up and take him everywhere are almost over. Then I have to work tonight in a different dept than I normally work and supposedly by myself. Ha haha.. I so want to call in sick, but that is just not my style.

So I was up to my parents last weekend. My father was more negative than I remember ever hearing him. Its like he things he is at the end of his life and noting is working well for him and my mother. Yes they forget some details, don't have motivation to travel and visit people like they used to. But the still get around, my father still drives well, my mother also legally blind still mows the lawn.

Now the clear facts is that their cousins have been dying left and right. They got another phone call this weekend of a cousin passing away. Most of their friends in town have passed a way and they are hanging out with some people now that they didn't hang out with before just because they are the only other people as old as they are in town.

All this has lead me to think my father is feeling some depression that he's not aware of and how its effecting him. Like what he is saying about living etc. Clearly, facing the reality of his world shrinking.

I just wanted to express what I saw while visiting my parents this past weekend. Was still go to hang out with them and we had some good talks.

yeah I can't even imagine when I am old enough that my friends or family are dying right and left. My 96 year old aunt doesn't have any friends left. She is in a assisted living home and doesn't seem interested in meeting people although she says she is lonely.
I remember the older my mom got and was still struggling with life the more negative she got. It's those seeds of bitterness.

So this weekend B and I went to the shore and walked thru the shops at Rockport. We had great weather, we went to two restaurants and ordered the Clam Chowder. comparing the rating we had one at a 6 and the other at a 7. I also bought a oil painting for my living room. I've not hung it yet, but just setting it on top of the couch it looks good. Usually the prices are $400-1600 and even more but this one was 100. The painting style shows that it doesn't take long to paint them ... but it looks good more what I'm after than an art collection for investment.

Sounds like a great weekend! I went to my sister in laws and she made me feel very special decorating her house with happy birthday and she made my favorite chicken tacos and rice and beans and then we had brownie sundaes for dessert. I had a great time, although between her and our other friends they wear me out with their conversations. The couple are kind of liberal and want Obama care to kick in because they cannot afford health insurance. My SIL works in the healthcare industry and sees how much Obama care is already hurting her industry and so they were getting in kind of a heated debate and then somehow they moved on to "religion" which my SIL says she doesn't like that word she prefers "faith" and her and the other couple kind of believe that no matter what you call God it doesn't matter. Kind of every way leads to God thinking and the guy of the couple is jewish and they don't believe there is a hell. And I don't believe in wrangling about words and I know that you cannot convince someone to change their opinion. It's so interesting that they want tolerance......as long as you agree with THEM. Ugh!

Glad you had a good birthday, Michelle. So hard to have a good understanding of things like Obama Care when we just have a view from such a small perspective. But hopefully they learn a little even if it doesn't appear that way.

My one friend is a housekeeper and doesn't make diddly. Not even sure if she pays appropriate taxes and she has nothing (except all her hoarded stuff lol). She can't afford health insurance and does not understand that she will now be required to have it regardless of her ability to afford it. It goes with that ol saying "be careful what you ask for". I'm lucky (so far) because my boss pays for our insurance. But if I couldn't afford it, I guess I would have to pay the fine because I don't even go to the Dr unless I'm dying and the fine would be less than if I purchased insurance. My SIL pays about 600 bucks a month THRU her employer for her insurance.

Ya, I really feel most of these types laws aren't helping the poor, just pushing them further into poverty. Businesses of all sizes are doing the same thing, not paying a good salary. So only a few at the top or certain technical fields make good money.

The government IMO wants to get as many people as possible dependent on the government.

The funny thing was that she was arguing that it was the insurance company that wrote that in the law, and my SIL's argument back was yeah but WHO signed into law? The insurance company can't institute law and it was the dumb*ss lawmakers that didn't take the time to read the bill and had to hurry to pass it. I will never forget Nancy Pelosi's stupid comment about having to pass it to see what's in it :doh:But all this friend wanted to keep stating over and over was that it was the big mean insurance company that made it this way because THEY wanted it, but still it was our legislature that passed it so.....

From what I can tell, Obama care is simply a "mandatory insurance" law like basic car liability is a law. Nobody helps you pay, you just have to do it.

I think everyone has kind of mentally turned it into whatever they want it to be. Nobody has bothered to understand what it actually is. I hope I am wrong but I think it is a disaster waiting to happen.

Well considering our insurance went up 1,000 bucks a month for our 6 employees and our families and our insurance broker told my boss to renew because no one knows what Obama care will do and it would be best to be in contract before it goes into effect, I also believe that it is going to hurt more than it will help. My friend that doesn't have insurance doesn't also understand that medicare re-imbursement is a small fraction of the bill they have to accept. Of course IMO this makes some Drs charge more because they know they aren't going to get much re-imbursement. I just find it funny how UN informed she is and yet feels confident to call us out on things she considers facts like the insurance company putting the mandatory thing in the bill. I am against it because it is different than car insurance. If I don't want to pay car insurance I can choose to not own a car, but you can't do that with health insurance and for people like me that rarely go to the Dr unless we are dying it's ludicrous that they can REQUIRE me to have insurance!
