  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Michelle,
My golf game was one of the worst ever! I was like 63 for 9 holes. That's like 10 extra strokes. Very bad. Its done pretty good on the earlier outings, so I think I wanted to show off to my friends, but pride got to me and I failed miserably.
Oh well, there is always the next game.

I have a brother-in-law who has been really into metal detecting at times. I've not got into it. But another way to view the world.

Ive been watching metal detecting videos on Youtube recently. Ive wanted to try it for many years, but now that Ive been watching these guys in Australia, Im hooked! I remember as a kid, digging old bottle out of the banks of a creek near where I lived, and it was soooo much fun!

The technology of the metal detectors make it as easy as can be to use and have a good idea what the detector is seeing. Do you have a good place to go looking for metal?

I have plenty of places within about half an hours drive, for me to practice and get the hang of it. I live fairly close to an historic old gold mine area. There were settlements etc there during the 1850's. Heaps of people will have already gone over it with a fine tooth comb, however it would be a heap of fun, and a good place to start. Lots of rubbish etc, but there would still be its and pieces of relics floating around. Its a gorgeous forested area too, so just lovely to hang out there. I will have to research regulations on when and where detecting is allowed though.

So my plan is to keep watching Youtube videos of detecting, plus start and research the best equipment required for it. I cant wait!! :D

Mama,
Ya, I've seen new regulations being put in place to keep people from taking anything from national parks and historic sites. So that would limit you I think. But you might be able to get permission from private land owners. Finding meteorites can be profitable from what I hear. But not easy to do as they are pretty scattered. Always exciting to find some gold I'm sure!
Let us know when you buy some equipment.
Just had the thought that its mostly guys I see with the metal detectors, so might be a good play to meet a guy! *grin*

does anyone know what "cross-site scripting" is and WHY my internet Explorer suddenly keeps modifying this page to prevent it? Ugh it's such a pain!

Also I am a terrible dental patient! I haven't been wearing my retainer as I should have and now my teeth are moving back!! I saw the ortho yesterday, so now I have to wear it 24/7 for a month and see where we are after that. Good news is when we finally get it back to where it was supposed to be he's gonna put in permanent retainers for me Yay! Costs more money but that's what I have my HSA for so.
Now my son is a different story. He is doing invisilign and the ortho said his teeth are not tracking and so he wants to put regular braces back on. My son is opposed vehemently. He said he is fine with how his teeth are. I don't know if I should just be a big "B" and say too bad so sad, and put the regular braces on, but in the long run he will probably be like me and not wear his retainer either. Ugh! I really can't wait til he gets a couple of years older and comes to his senses (hopefully) My older one did, so I'm hopeful, but every kid is different.
Anyway, I feel like a total loser. Can't discipline myself with my teeth, my weight, my finances (although my finances are getting a little better). Total failure. I have no one to blame but myself. End of rant.
