I used to have a Ford like that Candyvan, only it was white. Right now, I drive a gray Chevy.

Weird part: The church I go to is having an event Halloween night, as an alternative to trick-or-treat. We put candy in our vehicles, then the kids go to each car and get candy. If I show Halloween night, it's just possible I might have free candy in the van for kids. Man, you can't make stuff like that up!

All joking aside, I don't think it is a good idea to teach children to go into people's cars. I think that is really bad considering the times we live in. Bad. Bad. I would say something to the pastor or an elder. I just think that is a bad idea. Maybe I am paranoid.

I've already decided not to go, in any case. One of our other members at the church brought up the idea that alternative celebrations on that night are likely bad ideas just on the general principle of the thing. It's kind of hard to get around the fact that Halloween is a night devoted to celebrating the powers of darkness, and most alternatives seem to be putting lipstick on a pig. While this WILL be a supervised event, and parents/adults/members of the church will be there to make sure everyone is safe, I have to say you have a point. Some of the same people who came up with this idea would go into hysterics if I helped in the nursery, but somehow this one slipped through the cracks.

The mormons in my town do this they call it Trunk or treating. They open their trunks and the kids go around to all the vehicles and get candy. Yeah probably not a good idea for the little ones considering how many of our kids disappear each hour of each day.

My sister is near San Diego. She and her husband moved there for health reasons, Chicago's weather was doing them no good. It is not likely that I will ever see them again, finances simply don't allow it.

Went to the motocross track with my boys this weekend. On the way there I told my older son how proud I was of him going to college and he stopped me and said that before I go on an on, that he was a plan and he doesn't want to tell me about it, because it takes some time to make a decision and he doesn't want me to say that he always changes his mind, so he won't tell me his plan but whatever it is he says I will support him, and be able to be proud of him and I CANNOT imagine what could be BETTER than getting his FREE degree at this time in his life that I would still be proud of. The only thing I can think of is maybe he is considering joining the military? I hope that's not it, but I just told him to give me notice so I know when to commit suicide. Of course I wouldn't do that, but he just does NOT understand how important this is, getting his FREE college degree. Grrrrrrr

Well, the good ting is he is planning his life instead of just letting life happen to him.

But like you, I have a hard time to see something better than getting a free education.

Well I guess my daughter knows the "plan" but he told her not to say anything. I am glad that she is keeping his confidence and at the same time I'm not! It's whatever now until he decides he can let me in on it. I suspect maybe joining the military but not sure.
I just told my daughter I didn't want to talk about it anymore. Don't want to know the plan unless it's to stay in college. It's too emotional for me and I have to work my second job tonight so I cannot cry about it until I get off work from my second job.
And just think, I get to do this all over again in 2 more years when my youngest goes to college or is "scheduled" to go to college Yahoooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo!Yipee Kiyay!
