...for it is You Who says that Your Word does not return to You void, that Your Word is living, and powerful and a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart. May it be so, in the name of Jesus the Christ, the only begotten Son of You, the living God, the God of the living, amen.

"For the word of God is quick, and powerful, and sharper than any twoedged sword, piercing even to the dividing asunder of soul and spirit, and of the joints and marrow, and is a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart." ~Hebrews 4:12

Thank You Father. We praise Your name, and give thanks to You for Your mercy, and loving kindness, and that You RUN to us, when take even a step towards You. Thank You that YOu never ever stop loving us. Draw us to YOu, even now, in this moment. Enrapture our hearts, our minds, and our spirits and fill us with YOur joy, so that praises pour forth from us, intermingling with all of heaven, in a jubilant shout of victory as we catch a glimpse of You, rejoicing over us with singing. May it be so, in the name of Jesus the Christ, the only begotten Son of You, the living God, the God of the living, amen.

"The LORD thy God in the midst of thee is mighty; he will save, he will rejoice over thee with joy; he will rest in his love, he will joy over thee with singing." ~Zephaniah 3:17

Since I think about sex ALOT (sin) & had a wet dream yesterday, the 6th in about 2 months, can I justify masturbation? I haven't masturbated since feb that the reason why I have wetdreams frequently. My goal is to abstain from sex until marriage but temptations are all around i.e. I see sexually attractive women everyday. I would hate to finally find a woman of GOD then lose her because I lost self-control (my partner will practice abstinence too) because of built up lust because I didn't touch. Im a sex addict so this a huge challenge.

Yes, masturbation is a sin. It is a grave sin as well which means that committing this sin can cause you to lose your salvation and go to Hell.

What nonsense - some medieval gnosticism, not biblical teaching on either count.

Talk about false teaching.

No sin is greater than another. It's all the same in God's eyes. The only thing that can cause you to lose your salvation is blasphemy of the Holy Spirit.

jeez, read this entire thread

I really personally have no idea whether or not masturbation is wrong. I think that we as Christians should focus on other things. I've mentally castrated myself, that can't be bad at all, instead I try and focus on things like music or sports more than sexual sin. Because that stuff will drive you down the wrong path, it's happened to me at 7. Pretty bad stuff out there if you ask me. It may seem harmless now, but it'll come back and bite you in the butt or rather rip your spinal chord out like some sort of Mortal Kombat combo.

Sam7 you sound sarcastic in your reply to SOS when he said, "In no way is it more selfish than taking a bubble bath, enjoying a hobby, eating, etc... One can harm themselves by overeating, but we don't teach them never to eat."

Here's the sarcasm, "You take bubble baths? Wow, that's shockingly selfish. Can you imagine a christian 200 years ago taking a bubble bath? I can't. Back then the christians still knew how to live godly lives, what a shame. What has become out of us? We've turned into selfish, rotten creeps. Time to get the ol' whip out and chastize our flesh."

The bolded part is what you might want to take note of. You are being sarcastic here but the fact is Paul says this very thing in I Corinthians 9:24-27

The Need for Self-Discipline

24 Do you not know that in a race all the runners run, but only one gets the prize? Run in such a way as to get the prize. 25 Everyone who competes in the games goes into strict training. They do it to get a crown that will not last, but we do it to get a crown that will last forever. 26 Therefore I do not run like someone running aimlessly; I do not fight like a boxer beating the air. 27 No, I strike a blow to my body and make it my slave so that after I have preached to others, I myself will not be disqualified for the prize.

I think Christians need to starve themselves and get out the old cat o'nine tails and flog themselves, like in the good, ole days. We need more Gnostic teachings and practices in the modern day church.

It's like how in the OT, wealth, health and blessings were a sign of blessings. Sex and food were to be enjoyed (for the most part).

Now, it's all self denial, asceticism and suffering. Money is evil, so is sex, the body and everything material.

Things sure have changed since the days of Genesis.

Because people can't control themselves. Did they have internet child porn and human trafficking in the Old Testament? Just checking.

By the way, I'm not saying touching yourself is a sin, I'm saying that if something is out of control in your life, you need to fix it and ask God to help you. If someone wants to mentally castrate or flog themselves, I say hell yeah, if it will keep you from acting out and keep you close to God.

They definitely had human trafficking, as in slavery back then. Slavery was all the rage in those days, so I hear.

I think physical castration (mental castration is nothing, because it is not real) works best. If you have a problem, and you want it solved, then fix it! This is one way to do so.

Now, some might say it's like dropping a nuclear bomb to defeat a small army, but I say, "At least it works." If you're gonna do something, do it extreme.

"Here's a little quiz to see which way you might lean. As I said above, consider what frustrates you most when reading threads like this.

#1. If you get angry at sinners who try to justify their sinful actions, you may fall into category
#2. If you get angry at judgmental people who try to tell people what to do, you may fall into category
#3. If you get angry at your own inability to get past the sinful barriers in your life, you may fall into category"

(thank you, I enjoyed your post)

BUT, none describes me well, my reply:
1 Sinners are not held to the same standard; they're not the righteous so are irrelevant.
2 I don't know the people AND I'm going to do what I want to anyway.
3 It's not a sin to me, I don't struggle.

My # 4 Would be that what irritates me most is the not thinking and the kneejerk response to anything sexual, the twisting of scripture(ie I don't think Jesus was thinking of mb when he said looking at a woman to lust...), and the laying on guilt to people that want to please God, are in the throes of hormonal puberty and they feel like utter failures when they succumb (which BTW is James Dobson's take on it).
So yeah, that frustrates me.

Bold and magnified from lambren's post to bold and magnified in the small but powerful book of Jude. Has anyone read it lately?

Jude 1

1 Jude, a servant of Jesus Christ and a brother of James,

To those who have been called, who are loved in God the Father and kept for[a] Jesus Christ:

2 Mercy, peace and love be yours in abundance.

The Sin and Doom of Ungodly People

3 Dear friends, although I was very eager to write to you about the salvation we share, I felt compelled to write and urge you to contend for the faith that was once for all entrusted to God’s holy people. 4 For certain individuals whose condemnation was written about long ago have secretly slipped in among you. They are ungodly people, who pervert the grace of our God into a license for immorality and deny Jesus Christ our only Sovereign and Lord.
5 Though you already know all this, I want to remind you that the Lord[c] at one time delivered his people out of Egypt, but later destroyed those who did not believe. 6 And the angels who did not keep their positions of authority but abandoned their proper dwelling—these he has kept in darkness, bound with everlasting chains for judgment on the great Day. 7 In a similar way, Sodom and Gomorrah and the surrounding towns gave themselves up to sexual immorality and perversion. They serve as an example of those who suffer the punishment of eternal fire.

8 In the very same way, on the strength of their dreams these ungodly people pollute their own bodies, reject authority and heap abuse on celestial beings. 9 But even the archangel Michael, when he was disputing with the devil about the body of Moses, did not himself dare to condemn him for slander but said, “The Lord rebuke you!”[d] 10 Yet these people slander whatever they do not understand, and the very things they do understand by instinct—as irrational animals do—will destroy them.

11 Woe to them! They have taken the way of Cain; they have rushed for profit into Balaam’s error; they have been destroyed in Korah’s rebellion.

12 These people are blemishes at your love feasts, eating with you without the slightest qualm—shepherds who feed only themselves. They are clouds without rain, blown along by the wind; autumn trees, without fruit and uprooted—twice dead. 13 They are wild waves of the sea, foaming up their shame; wandering stars, for whom blackest darkness has been reserved forever.

14 Enoch, the seventh from Adam, prophesied about them: “See, the Lord is coming with thousands upon thousands of his holy ones 15 to judge everyone, and to convict all of them of all the ungodly acts they have committed in their ungodliness, and of all the defiant words ungodly sinners have spoken against him.”[e] 16 These people are grumblers and faultfinders; they follow their own evil desires; they boast about themselves and flatter others for their own advantage.

A Call to Persevere

17 But, dear friends, remember what the apostles of our Lord Jesus Christ foretold. 18 They said to you, “In the last times there will be scoffers who will follow their own ungodly desires.” 19 These are the people who divide you, who follow mere natural instincts and do not have the Spirit.
20 But you, dear friends, by building yourselves up in your most holy faith and praying in the Holy Spirit, 21 keep yourselves in God’s love as you wait for the mercy of our Lord Jesus Christ to bring you to eternal life.

22 Be merciful to those who doubt; 23 save others by snatching them from the fire; to others show mercy, mixed with fear—hating even the clothing stained by corrupted flesh.[f]

Doxology

24 To him who is able to keep you from stumbling and to present you before his glorious presence without fault and with great joy— 25 to the only God our Savior be glory, majesty, power and authority, through Jesus Christ our Lord, before all ages, now and forevermore! Amen.

Brinny I don't think anyone disagrees with what you put in post #290. However it did not counter what Johnnz said. The fact is that the church has a very unhealthy obsession against sex. Sure the bible is supportive of it however the church in general has not taught that and that is reflected in the views of many.

You have once again repeated the line about whatever you put before God is sin. I realise that. i learnt that even christian music can be wrong if it is more important than God. However what you have not done is shown how people are putting that before God. If anything you are making the assumption they are.

If you care to answer that with your words then I will read them. I will not watch anymore clips you post after the two I have seen already. I outlined earlier how the argument in one of them was so full of errors and holes that I just am not prepared to spend hours watching more. if I watched every clip you have posted in this thread it would take an entire day. You need to be realistic about what your asking people to do when you post those videos.

I like the videos brinny please don't stop posting them. There are some who may not want to hear or see them but there are others who appreciate them very much. Thanks!!
