No, on a man. If a man does something considered to be feminine, he's breaking stereotypes, and breaking stereotypes is a very good thing.
I agree with Thomas. When you are feminizing men, you are attempting to make them something other that what God created them to be.
Yes, the whole purse thing is just a silly rant. No, it doesn't make a man less of a man. Just a pet peeve of mine. Nothing more, nothing less.
My real issue is with trying to feminize men. I take big issue with that, and the metrosexual trend tip toes way too close to that line for my comfort.
I think it's funny how so many single women complain there are no good men out there, when they are trying to turn all the men into feminized creatures they can shop and do nails with. That's why you have girlfriends, ladies. Let men be men. If you need to do a pedicure and feel pretty, call up the girls. Then you can sit there and talk about your men and get all the feelings out. And when you do this, please do it at the salon during a major sporting event. We would appreciate it.

I can relate to the pet peeve aspect, there are quite a few things that can get my goat sometimes. The one main thing that bothers me about any trend or lifestyle, is when people embrace it, and act like it's the only way to live; like they've got something to prove by defining their lives via outer appearance and material objects.
That's my pet peeve.
I'm not sure if you're trying to be ironic or if you're genuinely confused about what you just said...

I'm not sure if you're trying to be moronic or if you're just a know-it-all.
I'm not at all confused.
And you guys are speaking out against people using what you call "man purses" because they are effeminate or whatever. So think about what you just said, and then think about what this thread is about and what your stance is on it. I think you are a little confused. The one main thing that bothers me about any trend or lifestyle, is when people embrace it, and act like it's the only way to live; like they've got something to prove by defining their lives via outer appearance and material objects.
You said this...

To put it clearly: You are telling people how they should live their lives, as if your way is the only way a "man" should appear. This is exactly what you are saying is one of your pet peeves.
I'm not what you'd call "worried", about men with bags, but the terms Masculine and Feminine aren't stereotypes in my understanding of the word.
"Stereotypes", are rarely accurate generalisations, whereas "Masculine" and "Feminine" are distinctive descriptions, with definitive meanings.
You've kinda missed what I was saying, but that's not a problem, I'm happy to elaborate.
In case you're going to ask me why I think that's a really bad idea, well, material wealth can be fleeting, and it doesn't really provide the same sense of security or love, that God can.
Yeah, I was going to say that it sounds like he read into your words and picked them apart too much and didn't see the spirit of what you were trying to say. Almost like arguing over semantics... you're not against people living their lives, you just don't want them to define themselves by their material possessions and outer appearance. And that's not limited to metrosexuals or men who carry murses although in this context, it would be easy to misconstrue it as that.
Well, the thing about what Thomas said is that it cuts both ways.
People who wear murses/purses or whatever other "metrosexual" stuff may be defining themselves by their material possessions and outer appearance.
But the same can be said for people who make a big deal of dressing "masculine"... (or "feminine", or even stuff like punk, goth, professional, etc).
Both might be attempting to define themselves by outward appearance.
And both probably have a tendency to define others by outward appearance as well. And that's *my* pet peeve.
