lost again

This is a great show. I finally got caught up with all 10 episodes. My dad and I are both hooked.

If you haven't seen Alias, I would recommend getting setup with Walmart or Netflix and watching the three seasons up till now. It was my favorite, but Lost is encroaching on it.

Jan. 5th can't come fast enough. I guess that starting night for season 4 of Alias also. Better get caught up on it quick. :)

Halleluja! Another convert!

For as much as I love police proceedurals like CSI and Law and Order, television was so desperate for truly quirky, compelling, interesting scripted dramas (as opposed to quirky and intersting like Gilmore Girls {IMO} or Veronic Mars {which I don't watch}) that thankfully ABC had the guts to roll the dice on Lost and Desperate Housewives.

I'm such a fanboy of Lost that I refuse to hit any websites that might contain spoiler speculation. I'm not exactly thrilled with TV Guide for having an almost weekly Lost speculation story/column, I am so averse to getting any info beyond the shows themselves and my own speculation...

...this forum excepted. :)

last night they showed 2 reruns of it and i still had to watch it just for my weekly "fix" :p

I didn't watch Jack's episode, but Locke's was required viewing for me. I tried to convert my mom by giving her some of the background story and setting her up for the - for me - stunning revelation of the twist about Locke. One of her friends called midway through the show and she missed the good parts.

I doubt she'll start watching... but then again, my dad was a career Air Force NCO and instilled and amplified a love of travel within our family during his active duty years -- and she still doesn't watch The Amazing Race - so I shouldn't be surprised.

Next up on the repeat cycle according to TV guide:

7/8pm show - Sawyer
8/9pm show - Charlie

i don't quite understand why locke hasn't told anyone that before they crashed he was in a wheelchair. i'd be screaming that from the mountain tops! but i completely missed the first time around that locke actually DID see the "monster" of the island.

This is speculation, but I think it's part of his assumption of his fantasy life as his "real life" (such as life in the island can be). From his footage in part one of "Pilot" and the resolution of his expostion, he basically comes to conciousness after the crash, has something new to deal with, and is immediately thrown into the situation - Jack calling him to come help get people away from the wreck.

So... about Locke and the Monster...

If any of you are frequenting spoiler sites and have more information than our idle speculation, either please don't post it, or post it with spoiler tags... but it's obvious, because of his miraculous recovery and his knowledge of where Charlie's guitar was - as well as what Charlie's basic problem was - that he has some connection with the magic of the island. His encounter with the monster, and the monster apparently giving him a dead boar, his comments to Charile and his "healing" point towards that.

Since this is speculation, not spoilage, I'll post this without the tags:

I think Claire's baby died in the trauma of the crash, but the Island's magic brought the baby back to life, just as it healed Locke's legs... I don't have much beyond that, but that's the direction I'm heading. Knowing this show... I'll be completely wrong and the expostion will blow me away.

Kate, portrayed by the impossibly button-nosed Canadian Evangeline Lily (where's New Creation when we need someone to give a shout out to a Canuck homegirl?), didn't fully reveal her crime. She will in a future episode.

If you missed her expository episode, she was in Australia trying to avoid the law, specifically a U.S. Marshall meant to take her back to the states. She winds up living with a one armed, (clue??? - Fugitive anyone?) Aussie farmer to earn some living money and just before she's going to take her savings and run again, the farmer turns her in for the $23,000 IIRC reward for her capture.

After the Marshall shows up in a black Suburban tailing Kate and the farmer, the truck they're in crashes off road, and she chooses to save the farmer from the burning wreckage, thus leading to her capture and eventual place, in cuffs, on the plane.

Bigsierra,

I checked out Televisionwithoutpity.com's thread on Locke and despite the desperate attempts at spoilage, not a single poster mentioned before his expostion that he was a parapalegic. That said, I'd still rather avoid the possibility that someone posts a spoiler due to dumb luck.

USIncognito,

Interesting thoughts about Locke and Claire's baby.

Did I miss episode #3 yet again, or did they skip it in the latest reruns? I know they showed 1 & 2, then 4 & 5 the last 2 Wednesdays. Did they show #3 on some other night?

Three was Kate's episode right? If so, they did skip it.

I saw the episode where they burn the fuselage. And read the names.

Why haven't they used the knife collection any more?

They should have tied a knife to a stick, to spear stuff. and for defence.

I'm still hooked.

Charlie and Hurley were using a knife on a stick spear during Locke's episode. I'm actually surprised that making sharpened stick spears aren't more part of the story, but I'm sure it's part of the overall plan.

Locke's episode (like part two of "Pilot") are great hooks for the show... but as I've commented previously - you must suspend belief. This show is a fantasy, so if you ask too many logical questions, it'll ruin the experience of exquisite story telling.

The first show since before the holidays wasn't the greatest.
We now know ...................
I am going to reveal something so if you taped it don't read

This show was centered around Kate.
Kate was involved in a bank robbery, and betrayed her gang. Shooting all of them.
They were going to kill the bank manager. Don't know what was in the bank box.

She found a metal case in a lagoon, unlocked it and was emotional about a little metal plane." It belonged to the man I killed."
She had fought to get this case from the loner. Was a little anti-climatic.

Nothing on Claire, Charley is in depression. Claire is back next episode.

Sayeed and Shannon were trying to descipher the notes from the mad woman Sayeed met. They are in French.
Great previews for next show:
Claire is back and is running from someone or something.
Locke hits the other guy that found the metal thing. To keep him from telling the others about the find.

Looking forward to the next show. When they have an average show they ussually have a great show next.

More importantly, next week is all about Boone! Ian Somerhalder is the best!

This is my favorite show right now. The intricacies and the philosophy and the dynamics just make me LOVE it.

I've heard rumors of Season One coming out sometime in the fall right before S2 starts. Whee!

Here's our who's who list:
Republican guardsmen - this must be Sayeed (I didn't know he was a RG)
The Doctor - Jack
The Bandmember(charlie?) - yes, Charlie
The convict/woman - Kate
The pregnant woman. - Claire, I think
The woman with the boyfriend - Shannon (what's the guy's name - I think that's her brother, BTW)
The Oriental woman and jealous husband. - not sure
The walk-about guy(who was crippled beforethe crash) - John Locke

also - the black man is Michael - I don't know his son's name
what's the big guy's name?
what's the loner/mercenary's name?
Who is Boone?
Trying to keep up a reference for people like me that have a hard time with names.
Cool, I might actually buy a series disc.
