You're not going to recommend he read The Ladder? ^_^

haha, in all seriousness though, St Ignatius because a lot of our theology is in his writings and he is so early.

I agree. I would also read St. Irenaeus of Lyons, the Epistle of Barnabas, and the letter of St. Clement of Rome.

Read them in their entirety. Then, based on their writings, ask yourself what the Early, New Testament Church was like. Did they believe in Sola Scriptura? Did they believe in Sola Fide? What was their ecclesiology like?

Beware of St Joseph's School for boys - there have been Icons sold there which were reproduced without permission of the Iconographers

Also the Site which keeps rebranding itself - was Monastery Icons [may well be a slightly different name again ] BUT if the Postal address is a PO Box in Ohio - stay well away from them - their background is NOT good

I've been told that two or three times by a certain young priest with a German last name who likes Seinfeld and has awful taste in Star Wars films! He's starting to repeat himself! The "bam!" effect only works once. After that, meh...^_^

I've seen the Iveron icon 4 times or so. While I marvel at it oozing myrrh and wafting incense out of it that smells like roses, I've never actually witnessed it heal anyone or help anyone. I KNOW that it does, just never saw it. With the shoulder, back, and neck pain that I suffer with (I rarely talk about it on here; it is intense and hellish), I would love such a healing. I prayed that request before the icon. It just wasn't in the cards. Maybe someday....but I don't doubt its power!

I prefer to say I have a "marked, significant preference" rather than the quite urban "dissing," but I digress! ^_^

Maybe if you'd stop dissing icons ;)
