I was at an ordination today; three new deacons in the church of God.

First time I've ever been at an ordination where the women outnumbered the men amongst the ordinands; two of the new deacons are women.

Very very busy weekend, and I can't quite believe Lent starts tomorrow. Where is this year going already?!

So what are you giving up for lent?

I'm not giving up anything (for complicated reasons) but I am planning to make more time for prayer.

One of the things with working in ministry is that a lot of what I once did to feed my own spiritual life has become work... so I need to make time to get away from feeding others to give time to my own relationship with God. And it can be hard to do that, but that's what my Lenten focus is going to be.

Mass on Tuesday and Friday
not going to the cafe, going to use the money i spend on coffee to give to the poor, going to use my cafe time to read the Bible
