Of course I am a YEC! They rule. But when one realizes that the patterns in isotopes were not made in this present state, and therefore by the decay and etc we know, they fade into insignificance! How sweet it is!

I do not assume that a layer took a year or season as it may now do! That is pure present state reckoning, it can't take you back in real time. Much like a tree ring. If a tree could grow in a month or even a few weeks, then a ring would not equate to a year by any stretch of the imagination.
You have NO evidence for a same state past. It is dismissed.

If Genesis was written in a different state past, how can we possibly know what the words mean?
They could be telling us that Lake Suigetsu's varves were laid down, on average, ten times in every year, because each year had ten springs, but they could equally be telling us that the Flying Spaghetti Monster faked all the evidence, inguding the varves and faked Genesis, last Thursday. But I can't see any support for either in my reading of Genesis.
Parsimony. Okcham's razor. Newton's principle. "Do not multiply entities unnecessarily". IOW, do not add complications for which there is no evidence, and no need. The people who penned scripture lived in the same world that we live in, but they had very limited knowledge, and they got things wrong.
