Although I am not a woman, I can tell you a good motorcycle will go 1000x farther than any car.

A thousand times farther ... as impressing more women or actual mileage?. My Durango currently has 270,000 miles on it so I am guessing you mean "with the girls."

Well, it looks like you do need a pickup truck.

Speaking for myself only, I'd settle for a medium-size Toyota or Mitsubishi 4x4 pickup with a diesel engine. The wheels aren't so big so not very expensive to replace and the diesel and medium size would get as good mileage as smaller cars! I could manage with smaller 4x4's. I used to go offroading with a full time 4wd RAV4 2002 (the newer ones are no longer full time 4wd :(). Never got stuck, but of course, in mud or snow, you'd better be with all-season (M+S) or snow tires!

Of course, medium pickup trucks with diesel aren't flashy (even sounds horrible!). They are never meant to catch any attention, just to get the job done efficiently!

I never said it had to be a flashy ... dependable w/ a good a/c in the summer and a warm heater in the winter ...

Actually, bikes like you desire are making a comeback. Nice quiet Asian guy at work pulled up on a bike that at first I thought was a beautiful restoration job, but it is actually a brand new Suzuki...

I wish they do for cars too. I am quite nostalgic for the 50's to the 80's era.

My HHR (kind of hate it but got it for a good price) is modeled after the 1949 Chevy Suburban. I think the PT Cruiser is modeled after an older car. VW bugs came back. And the Dodge Charger/Avenger look a lot like the old muscle cars.

I've seen those cars. Looks great outside, but I still didn't like the interior trim. Still looks modern inside. Perhaps it would be too expensive to give them chrome or wood interior trim?

We used to have a '67 German VW bug all German-made parts. My dad sold it 20 years ago. I was angry at him for selling it. I was rooting for it as my first car, unfortunately, our parking slot can only fit one car and we had to get a newer car.

Now, the model is valued over 10x the price we bought it for! :( I love the classic VW bugs, other than the nostalgia...Give it limited-slip differential (a minor upgrade) and wider tires, it can be off-roaded! A classic bug in excellent condition also has limited amphibious capability! It could float and be driven over deep water for several minutes! :o It was designed by crazy mad German scientists, what do you expect!

My dad has a Chevy HHR and loves it. His has around 170k miles on it and has been mostly trouble-free.

Most of us wouldn't settle for no a/c, poor heating, a basic radio, and engines that won't pass emission testing or meet the mileage requirements most consumer expect. Lots of people around here have classic cars but they only drive them on pretty summer Saturday/Sunday afternoons.

that 20x value would have probably been eaten up in maintenance expenses and if you had continued to drive it...and that value is probably for a garage kept barely used car...not one driven to death by a new teenage driver...

It is too little and the number of design flaws is unbelievable. For one, I am only 5'5" and yet I have to duck my head to see the traffic lights because the front windshield is too small...and who puts the window controls on the center console instead of the doors? (a flaw I think that was corrected on later models).

Get the Corvette. I'm not a woman, but I assume many woman like me would not feel comfortable riding around on a motorcycle.
I would love to ride on the back of a motorcycle, with a guy.

It is also stick shift...which after working a particularly hard 13 hour shift, I have sat in the car wondering where I was going to find the energy to push in the clutch enough times to get home. However, both my kids have learned to drive a manual transmission which is a skill I think they should have. My daughter fully enjoys her "bad ass" reputation of being able to drive a stick....it kind of impresses the boys.

It's a nice skill to have.....But try driving stick in Manhattan, New York rush hour traffic, you'd probably curse the clutch!

I've driven both auto and stick in heavy traffic and I mean like stuck in heavy traffic for three hours! Stick adds greatly to driving fatigue in heavy traffic. And fatigue makes you a less safe driver.

Maybe, rural, or off hour trips in the city, stick is okay. But if work starts at 8am, weekdays, working in CBD, then it's certainly wise to drive auto. Nowadays, the fuel economy between the two is about the same. The estimates is based on optimum shifting and use of clutch so besides optimum shifting, an auto may actually get better mpg.

But you do whatever you want in america as I hear the roads are very straight you could probably drive blindfolded.

Really? Do you actually believe such stereotypical statements?

I wouldn't..sorry I have my own car, not going in someone elses or having helmet hair. But you do whatever you want in america as I hear the roads are very straight you could probably drive blindfolded.

That's how I used to think about America too until one day I'm cruising along this very straight road in Atlanta at over 70 mph, and then suddenly, without warning, there's a hairpin turn! o_O I thought that was over and doing 60 mph going to the grocery store and the road makes a sudden 45 degree bend! o_O

And where else can you find a motorway that you have to slow down real slow in a curve so you don't fly to the next county?

And then you have drivers who change lanes as if you're driving an invisible car! o_O

Motorcycles are funner, better gas mileage, better parking, cheaper, etc. Better in almost every way excluding safety. Women will be impressed depending on the Bike you buy, Sport bikes get a lot of attention. Corvettes are very cliche.

Not so good at a hauling stuff or people though...I love road trips in the SUVs...plenty of room for companions, the pets, and camping gear and whatever else we want to bring. :)

I wouldn't go for the Corvette that does scream midlife crisis. I'm motorcycle would definitely attract women. I personally try not to even look at motorcycles these days because I'm 45 and Men on motorcycles usual want 25. Fact I spent most of my twenties on the back of a motorcycle but now I've got my own its only a Honda 70 trail but the next one will be bigger and bigger and bigger so now it doesn't kill me is not true listening to other motorcycles drive by. I can't go out of town on it but I find places to ride since I live in a small town in Idaho anyway. If you want a muscle car go find a 67 GTO.

If anyone asked me, lady! Corvette or motorcycle, i would think, oh sterotypical loud american male. With a choice in vehicles wanting to impress me.

If they said instead...toyota or quadbike? I would think, oh they must be nzer. We dont have corvettes here anyway.
