Motorcycle or Corvette? Neither one. :/ The motorcycle doesn't look like it's capable of going off road. For normal road trips, sure, it looks just fine. I googled the Corvette and while it's okay for a "well that's a cool car!", and a ride or two, it's not practical for every day use. I'd get tired real fast of having to squeeze into that thing, and long road trips...yikes. Your current vehicle looks decent enough, why do you want to get rid of it?

Sports cars also tend to have stiffer suspensions setups and wide and stiff ultra low-profile tires. This is deliberate to increase tire contact patch and minimize weight transfer which helps improve grip, in addition to having low center of gravity....

I'm simply saying, that sports cars will have a harsher ride! Definitely not good if comfort matters to you and you like doing long trips.

Happy to see somebody who has studied this stuff.

My desire for the KLR is simple cheap transportation like it use to be. The original reason I started riding was I could get a cheap bike and fill it up and travel a couple of hundred miles for 5 bucks and have a good time out and that is where the KLR is for me. Your choice of bike I have not studied but I will as it looks like what I like, just a standard bike. I remember when you could walk into a Honda shop and it would be all standards, dirt bikes and a few Goldwing's and no cruisers because Japan made standards but now you walk in and there are no standards and 200 cruisers. Its all about image now and not just about cheap transportation. The modern bike scene was started by guys returning from war who wanted cheap transportation and all the returning bikes from the war they could get cheap so they did and they could put a buck in gas and ride all day. I would like to go BMW as they do ride nice but way too expensive and I am tired of old bikes which is all I could afford if I went BMW.

Actually, bikes like you desire are making a comeback. Nice quiet Asian guy at work pulled up on a bike that at first I thought was a beautiful restoration job, but it is actually a brand new Suzuki...

And Yamaha has come out with the SR400 for around $4k retail...

While it probably won't matter for most people, better equilibrium/peripheral vision because you're sitting directly over the center of gravity and not off to one side like you are in a car.

It wouldn't matter to the car either. But then, I only weigh 120 lbs!

Never had problems with the asymmetric vision. With 2 years driving experience in NZ (same as UK) and US and tight and chaotic driving conditions in third world countries, you get to be confident driving on either seat and in the "wrong" side of the road and tightly around obstacles. :)

With enough time on the road driving cars, it turns into muscle memory and becomes second nature. You just need to put time in it.

I'm honestly curious about female opinions of rally cars like the Subaru WRX or the Ford Focus RS. Smaller bodies with more powerful engines - which wins out?

Harsh/stiff ride and tight Recaro seats? Also, many women would look at rally-bred cars and think it's just an ordinary Subaru with fancy trim.

So they might think it's just another fancy Subaru but with harsh ride quality...And if you explain the details, they may even think you're a geek or nerd! Not good!

Honestly, a man's vehicle doesn't matter that much. Don't show up for a date on a motorcycle without making sure your date knows it and is dressed appropriately. Clean your car, inside more than outside..much more important than what kind of car it is. If you are moving things off my seat, it shows you haven't really thought out the evening with me very much...and I don't want to be dusting dog hair or old food off my pants when we arrive at our destination. And make sure it is safe and reliable. I don't want to worry that we will get miles from home and I am concerned that we are going to break down in the dark. I'd rather just meet you at the venue if you aren't sure about your car....be honest, I will still show up.

If you want to impress me with your vehicle (not necessary, but possible)...show up in a clean pickup or SUV. However, I haven't batted an eye when being picked up in a work minivan or any other vehicle. Make yourself more interesting and show some interest in me. The car is only transportation.

I hope not many women share your opinion because I have no use for an SUV or pickup! As single with no kids, few stuff, I practically have nothing to fill an SUV or pickup truck.

It had over 50% utility I'll probably never use. I'd be wasting a lot of money on fuel, tires, and maintenance, not to mention, they cost much more than a car.

Even if I could easily afford having an SUV or pickup, I'd rather invest my money elsewhere. Not a big fan of waste to be honest.

If I needed all-wheel drive (4x4) traction (If somehow, I decide to live in Canada), there are much smaller and much cheaper alternatives but still very reliable like those offered by Suzuki, Subaru, and Toyota in the compact/sub-compact hatch category.

I said "to impress me"...not that it is necessary. However I live in the snow and don't get snow days and work nights so a big heavy 4 wheel drive is necessary drive for me so I don't end up in a ditch, or at least can get out if necessary. Personally, I find cars frustratingly small because of their lack of room to transport things....even if it is just a cool dresser or desk I found at the side of the road (people put out good things in our town in hopes that someone will repurpose them).

I am not money grubbing but at this point of life, I hope to find a person who can afford gas ... though I don't care if he budget his driving miles. I have already lived through the "don't know how I am going to fill the tank" years.

I prefer a motorcycle because it fun. Corvettes seem for old people to me. Maybe because I had an aunt that had a corvette, when I was a kid.You would need a special motorcycle license. If you get a motorcycle and ride it. I would do either just to get chicks. I would do it for fun.

You know what would be really attactive? A guy that had his own spaceship.

I could ask him to fly me to the moon.

When are you getting one made?

Whatever you do, dont buy a yacht because yachties love their boats more than their women. I once went out with one and all he could talk about was sailing and I cant really swim and get sea sick.

Buy a minivan. That will impress women more. It's the wrong types of women that are impressed by bikes or sports cars typically.

This thread is meant mostly in jest, but I am curious...

I'm 47, divorced, and have some disposable income so I figured I should be either buying a motorcycle or Corvette to make me feel younger and to attract women. ;-)

Seriously though, I am planning on buying a motorcycle and getting into adventure riding. It's basically where you take a motorcycle that is capable of going on or off road, loading it down with camping gear, and taking a weekend, a week, or longer to go live off your bike in the countryside.

I live in Washington state on the border of Idaho and there are some truly stunning areas I've always wanted to visit within 300 miles of my home. My brother and some other buddies are getting into it and have convinced me to buy my own bike. Though I likely won't get one until next Spring.

The bike I picked out can carry a passenger, but when it's outfitted with it's panniers and such to carry all the gear, it's not really passenger friendly. So, it's not really a good choice to attract females.

It's this, BTW...

2015-Kawasaki-Versys-1000-21.jpg

Had I set out with the intention of buying a motorcycle to attract women, I would have picked out some sort of cruiser. However, I am not shallow enough to actually buy a vehicle with the purpose of attracting a mate. But I do know that a lot of men are...

So, as single women, does the type of vehicle a man drives have any influence on you as far as making him more or less attractive?

Do middle-aged guys in Corvettes make you feel sorry for the driver or oddly attracted to him?

Does a guy on a motorcycle evoke images of a passionate rebel bad-boy type or someone who lives too carelessly?

Does late-model Toyota Camry make you think responsible and sensible or boring and unimaginative?

Beat up old pickup says to you humble and hard worker, or possible broke alcoholic?

Big lifted 4x4 means testosterone filled country boy or guy trying to compensate?

As a lifelong car guy and automotive enthusiast, I've always wondered what women really thought in regards to what a man drives says about him.

To be completely transparent, this is my current daily driver:

I love mini vans and if I was rich I would buy one to go along with my 32 Ford 3 window and A/C Cobra. My mom had two mini vans and when I would drive them I loved them. They set up high but don't beat you up like a pick-up does. I love it on Get Shorty the movie when Danny DeVito told John Travolta how the mini van was the new cool and to get one and then he did and loved it.

LOL. I tend to date "real people" who live real lives and have real problems. I am not looking for the "ideal" ... but rather people who actually live their lives since I don't want to have to be anyone's ideal either.

At this point in life, I seem to be living in a world of women only....I work on a Women's floor in the hospital, my friends are all women (mostly nurses), and it is women I tend to interact with when dealing with my kids at their activities ("mom" duty stuff)....no men, alas....so no dating recently...I am hoping that one day God will decide to change this status though...

And honestly, when he does show up....I don't really care what kind of car he owns or drives...just so long as he shows up. His heart matters so much more than his car.

(PS...the flashy sports car says "mid-life crisis"...the motorcycle around here, means "mid-life crisis" but if he rides with other "weekend warriors", it also means he has an interest and a life (not really a life I am interested in though)....since I live in the area near Detroit, owning a classic car means you have a hobby and it is a popular social thing with things like our annual Woodward cruise where the whole city shows up and shows off their restored cars ...and a minivan, means he is practical and either needs it for work or has kids whom he hauls around...the same thing with a pickup truck for someone who lives in the country...)

Well, it looks like you do need a pickup truck.

Speaking for myself only, I'd settle for a medium-size Toyota or Mitsubishi 4x4 pickup with a diesel engine. The wheels aren't so big so not very expensive to replace and the diesel and medium size would get as good mileage as smaller cars! I could manage with smaller 4x4's. I used to go offroading with a full time 4wd RAV4 2002 (the newer ones are no longer full time 4wd :(). Never got stuck, but of course, in mud or snow, you'd better be with all-season (M+S) or snow tires!

Of course, medium pickup trucks with diesel aren't flashy (even sounds horrible!). They are never meant to catch any attention, just to get the job done efficiently!
