I've been knitting. I'm trying to get myself past the thought that knitting is tedious. To do so I've joined a 'block of the month' club at my local yarn store and have done 2 different blocks. Although in theory they are supposed to turn out the same size, they aren't. Grrrr...

I've also knitted a scarf out of some gorgeous dark magenta color yarn in the super bulky size range. It curls, although I did try to do the knit the edges thing. Oh, well, it's mine and it's very warm.

I also have some yarn to knit a purse, which I am thinking of starting soon.

So, tiradas, we are out here knitting, just knitting quietly. :)

I am working on knitting a scarf out of fancy yarn. I just finished knitting a baby's blanket. It is made out of similar colours as my crocheted baby's blanket which I posted a picture of, because they were both made out of the scraps from the same project(s).

I had a good rummage through my wool cupboard yesterday! Thought I'd make some baby clothes for the hospital where my daughter was born six 1/2 years ago...just as a continuing thank you to them!!

Yeah, love crochet too. Think much of my Saturday will be spent plastered to the couch playing with wool.

God bless,

V. L.

What all do you do with wool? Do you hook? Do you make penny rugs?

My daughter and I have been true to our word - it's been a wonderful afternoon just playing with threads, beads and stuff. My daughter has just completed her first bit of embroidery with sequins, it's great and going straight on the wall!!

I love to crochet little doilies - I know they're not too fashionable at the moment, but I love making them! My favourite thing to knit are gloves - I have enough odds and ends in my cupboard to sink a battleship, so I think I'll spend my free time this summer making some little bits and pieces, with beads too - and sell them for my church on our open day next September!!

Have fun!!

God bless,

Violet

ps, I do fancy trying hooking/rug making - hmm...... ;)

I started knitting at age 13. My mom taught me so I could make a sweater for my sister. I had seen the pattern while at the fabric store with my mom and knew my sister would love it. Well, my mom actually made the sweater, but she taught me how to knit.
I used to make a lot of sweater vests for my wife. The women at work thought she got them from high-end stores until she showed them the little embroidered label I make for her sweaters "Sew Domestic/Made with 100% LOVE."
Last year I made my daughter a pink sweater with the front covered with cables and a single cable running up the outside of each sleeve. She loves it. Late last year I had some alpaca yarn I got from doing a story about a local alpaca farm in my job as a reporter. It was dark brown, so I promised myself the next little boy born at church would get a plush football. While I was knitting that, my six-year old daughter and 10-year old son asked to learn how to knit. So I taught them. The other day my daughter asked me is she could practice knitting again. I think she's hooked.

I'm more of a crocheter, but I saw a sweater that was both crochet and knit, so I just had to learn how. I haven't made the sweater yet but I've become alittle crazed with the knitting. It's funner than I thought it would be. I'm almost done with a bag.

I *just* learned how to knit this week. I'm working on a scarf and I'm not sure if I'll be able to wear it before the spring thaw! lol : ) It's real pretty though. Just straight knit stitch, about a foot wide (like 25 stitches I think on size 8 needles if you're wondering) with this yarn:

I am knitting a hat right now. I am making up a pattern. It is 60 around, does anyone have any suggestions for decreasing?
Sorry...I can not give advice in that area...too new to knitting.

Have you been able to figure it out?

I love the yarn you have chosen. Very pretty. I hope you will post a pic when you have finished it.

Blessings
