Exactly what I was thinking.Nathan Poe said:Um.... Iraq war, anyone?

im am for adult stem cell research. which, like i said, ive heard is just as good
I don't believe that we should destroy lives so we can save lives. Vote Bush!
Why are you still holding to the falsehood that embyonic stem cells come from abortions?Kelly said:The total losses (both sides) are a drop in the bucket compared to the losses of the unborn we get through abortion and WOULD GET through emb. stem cell research. Union of sperm and egg = life.

Nice try... Let's say you have a cut on your left arm, it's bleeding pretty badly (Iraq), but your right arm has just been severed, and it's gushing blood. Chances are, you'd stop the bleeding on your severed arm because of the increased loss of blood, right? If you look at loss of life as just loss of life, there are more people dying from abortion than the war, a million more.Jacob4Jesus said:So, the lives of the people lost in Iraq are not as valid as the lives lost by abortion just because there are less deaths? Could you please explain the logic behind that?
That's a pretty poor analogy. The life of every single person who died in Iraq is just as precious as every aborted fetus.Kelly said:Nice try... IVF has literally disposed of left-over embyos for years. Now someone sees a scienific use for them. At the same time the pro-lifers object. Where were they for all those years when these embyos were "killed"?Kelly said:that's not what I am saying at all. I'm saying that both activities kill unborn
They're just hypocrites, religious fanatics, in my opinion, are just making noise to make noise. They only want to make this an issue because they were told to make it an issue. Of course, with the decades of in vitro fertilization they were completely silent, as soon as science wants to make progress, there is a sudden outcry. Religious people have always been in the way of scientific progress and historically will always be seen as wrong. Unless they start campaigning against in vitro fertilization, contraceptives, and the death penalty, they shouldn't talk; of course the ultra-conservative Catholic view seems to be the only people that have a valid ideology. I have respect for them because at least they're consistent.kermit said:IVF has literally disposed of left-over embyos for years. Now someone sees a scienific use for them. I don't feel that these embryos were killed. I don't think they were ever really alive. They were not emplanted in a uterus so they never had the opportunity to develop.
Apparantly life only becomes sacred when it hits a certain number...Jacob4Jesus said:So, the lives of the people lost in Iraq are not as valid as the lives lost by abortion just because there are less deaths? Could you please explain the logic behind that?
At the same time, how many babies will be killed in the process? Why not do medical experiments on adult humans has well. We could do mass clinical tials with new drugs. Sure, most of them could die, but think of the lives we could save lator on.Nathan Poe said:Sounds like a good idea. Who knows how many diseases we could cure through this research?
Actually, that would not work because they would be foriegn cells which the body would recognize after they fully developed. The body would attack those foriegn cells much of the same way a body attacks a foriegn organ--by using lymphatic cells to detroy them.Burning Bush said:Just imagine treatments for HIV, getting stable cell lines of immune cells and you could inject people with them, thus eliminating the need for AIDS drugs, and would keep people alive while they work to find a cure for the virus, it would be great.
The comparison is valid. The Nazis were not restricted by the morality of human life when they did thier medical experiments.Holly3278 said:Why is it that for some people, when someone disagrees with someone, the opposing view gets compared to Nazis?
