Hello everybody. Welcome to the newbies. This thread is stalling. (and I'm sure I'm partially to blame for it... :sorry: )

MLE...I didn't know you were Pentecostal. I was raised in the Assembly of God. In fact....probably 99% of my family is still Pentecostal.

Does it bug you as much as it does me that people sometimes say such harsh uncharitable things about the Pentecostal church? Like they are false etc? I don't know about you...but my family are a lot like you are. You're not surprised that they believe in God...because it's just part of their every day existance. (not trying to start a discussion about this if anyone disagrees) I mean...I think you're someone that I've come to get to know a little bit that shows faith just in the every day little conversations. And that's awesome. (well, I think it is)

Sorry...I tend to gush sometimes.

Well...I should go see what those kids are up to. I told them to get in the bath...but I thik sometimes when they see me on the computer...they think they have all the time in the world. :D

Good night...and God bless.

Well Hey James. Joining us?

Such a tight lipped young man. This is a fellowship thread my friend. You've really got to say more than "Hi" (but, I would rather you be here just saying "Hi" then not be here at all....just so you don't think I'm shooing you off...just would love it if you would talk to us. That's all. ;) )

So? How are you?

 Hello all. A very warm welcome to all those who are just joining us. It's such a beautiful day here in West Virginia. We got a fresh layer of snow last night and everything is so gorgeous and bright. Our pastors wife is recovering from some sort of infection so our prayers are being answered for her. It's just been a great start to a great day. There's no school to teach  and tomorrow I get to join my brothers and sisters in Christ for a day of worship and fellowship. Ain't God good??????????????!!!!!!!!! Hope each of you have a wonderful Jesus filled day and may God richly bless you all.

It's great to see that new fellowshippers are joining us!

I haven't been around much. I've been busy in my free time reading an awesome book. It's called Deadline by Randy Alcorn. I finnished it last night. It covers many of the conterversial "christian" issues of today. I say "christian" because they are not necessarily Christian issues. They are issues that many Christians care about. It also gave an imaginative view of heaven that got me really excited! We can only dream a fraction of what is to come.

Your signature reminds me of Deadline. Have you read it? I think you would like it if you haven't.

It is wonderful to see you are back. I was really missing you! I go to a Pentecostal Chruch but I do not really consider myself a Pentecostal. I'm a Christian. I am cautious of loosing site of Jesus when I put a denominational name to my belief, faith and redemption. I feel that in general many people put much emphasis on thier denomination when the common denominator is Jesus. I am happy to be in a Holy Ghost, Spirit filled assembly.
The first time I noticed the "uncharitable" things people say about the Pentecostal Church has been here on this forum. Before we moved we went to a chuch with a Christian label, I have only been in this church for a couple years. I'm sure people from many denominations are false at times, including the Pentecostals. God warns us about that in the bible. People are not perfect that's why we go to church, because we are in need of a Saviour and need the fellowship of other believers to spur us on and encourage us, until that great day when Christ returns or our days on this earth are done.
Your comment about my faith has served to encourage me. Thank you

Talk to you all soon!

Hi all!

Wisdom Seeker complimented me (thank you!) in being an optimist. We've all heard the old saying that an optimist see the glass as half-full while a pessimist sees it as half-empty. Did you ever wonder why this is?

I once heard Rabbi David Rosen (http://www.jewishaustralia.com/rabbidavidrosenbio.htm), who is very involved in interfaith issues, explain it. He explained as follows: The pessimist lives an ideal world. He sees things not as they are but rather as he thinks they should be. He cannot help but be disappointed by the fact that the glass is not full; his outlook for the future is negative because whatever exists in reality will never be able to match his ideal vision. Thus, he sees the glass as half-empty. The optimist, on the other hand, is a realist. He sees things as they are. He cannot help but be pleased that the glass is no longer empty; his outlook for the future is positive because he remembers when the glass was empty, notes the progress that has been made since then, and is confident of further progress. Thus, he sees the glass as half-full.

I'm an optimist!

...Wisdom Seeker, do worship services at your church involve clapping, singing, dancing, etc.?

:
Thank you for the sermon. I agree. But I'll add this...an Optomist is grateful for what they have, does not expect more and can take the direst of trials and gleen the good out of it. An optomist in fact chooses to see good in anything and everything. Optomism is hope.

In answer to your question. No, We are more of a spiritual study group with a great deal of praying and sharing. What are your services like?

MLE...your attitude about denomination reminds me of mine while I was a member of an Independent Fundamental Baptist church. To some people...denomination seems to be more important than anything else.

I choose to believe that a focus on God is much more important than what club you can say you belong to. And that is all too often what denominationalism turns into.

Glad you could stop in. It's always a pleasure to fellowship with you.

Has your view of denomination importance changed since then? What is your view now?

I haven't read that book. I'll have to put it on my list. I love to read. Our UMW (United Methodist Women) have a reading plan and you get certificates after 4, 10, 15 & 20 books in a year. I got 4 books Thursday and have read 2 1/2 already. This last one I'm reading is fiction called "Dana's Valley" by Janette Oke and Laurel Oke Logan. Wow, it's good. I just started it this afternoon after our spamfest in Emma's drive by.
