CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Today started bad for me, but it got a lot better, I had my last exam, and then I found out I got an A in the one I did earlier this week, so I'm pretty pleased with myself right now! 
I've got some housework to do to, got to get all the hoovering and dusting done before my mum gets home, but oh well, I'll just throw on a cd and it'll be done before I know it!

Hello all!
This is the day that the Lord has made. I will rejoice and be glad in it!
We did our morning bible study and prayed. Then we turned on an educational program for the little one, my husband hit the shower and I went jogging.
Jogging is a new thing for me. I've been doing it since Monday. I love it. I really enjoy the stillness of the early morning. I can be alone with the fresh air in the presence of my God. He is my strength.
I realize that exercise profits very little in God's eyes but I think that part of living a Godly life is living a healthy one.

Wow, everyone I play with in the rec room posts on this thread! Is it VIP? LOL, well, everyone on CF is a Very Important Person, so I guess it is, huh? So, how is everybody? Thank God I'm forgiven and Thank God it's Friday. I just finished a killer school day. I'm homeschooled everybody, in case you wanted to know. Any other homeschoolers on the thread? There are a lot of us on CF. I know I'm rambling right now, but I'm tired. I haven't slept well for almost 2 and 1/2 weeks. I don't know why. I have sleep as a prayer request on the requests section. I hope I get some sleep soon. Oh well, I'm feeling pretty good anyway. Everything's going pretty well right now, but one day tends to blend in to the next. I've really enjoyed the fellowship on CF. Thanks guys/girls!

Hello to you all and a great big welcome to christschick and missionary poet. We're always glad to have others to chat with. I have to agree with mle. Tis a wonderful day because God has given us another chance to testify to our Saviour's unbounding love missionary poet: I homeschool my children. One of them is almost 15 so if you'd like to chat with her sometime and maybe relate that way; I could have her get in touch with you or visa versa.
Wells, as great as a day that this is going to be; I guess I should make a path through this house so that we won't stumble and perhaps forget what a great day this is.

Hi all!
It's 22:37 here on a quiet Saturday night. It's quiet 'cause me & Scabbers (the hamster) are the only ones awake in the flat.
We had a nice, relaxful Shabbat (i.e. the Sabbath, which began yesterday at sundown & ended today at nightfall; http://www.jewfaq.org/shabbat.htm), which was good because yesterday was ultra-depressing. I referred to that bus that got blown up Thursday morning in my previous-plus-one post? Well, it turns out that one of DW's cousin's sister-in-law was one of the 11 people who were murdered. So, we had to go to the funeral yesterday morning. (The Jewish custom is to bury people ASAP, even the same day if it can be done, but never on the Sabbath or a major holyday; see http://www.jewfaq.org/death.htm). The (divorced) woman left behind two teen-aged children. The son eulogized his mother; it was heart-rending. In the little hall, where this took place, Ecclesiastes 12:7 ("And the dust returneth to the earth as it was, and the spirit returneth unto God who gave it.") was inscribed on the wall. Then we all followed the body (wrapped in a plain white shroud inside an opaque cloth, carried on a special stretcher) to the gravesite. I find funerals very, very humbling. We think that we're such hot stuff & that we are our problems are so important and then you realize that one day, all the people will be following us to our graves.
As we were cleaning & cooking before we left for the funeral, I put on the TV to catch the latest sports news & as I was surfing to the sports channel, I passed MTV & stopped. It was playing "Life for Rent" by Dido (she has such a beautiful voice!) & I kept thinking about the line from the song's chorus ("Nothing I have is truly mine") in terms of getting ready to go to a funeral.
What snapped me out of my depression was getting a big, slurpy kiss from Naor (all 3-years-old of him) when we got back home (we had arranged for friends to mind Da Boyz after pre-nursery school & first grade, respectively).
So Shabbat was good. After (short) evening prayers last night, we came home to a dinner of soup (mulligatawny), salads, stuffed peppers & wholewheat carob cake (all homemade!) for dessert. This morning, it was off to (long) morning prayers & then home for the customary big lunch. We had guests from the neighborhood (he is of Yemenite extraction & she is originally from England; a real ingathering of the exiles!). Lunch was soup and salads (same as last night), veal & (brown) rice and more cake. This afternoon was (short) afternoon prayers, the playground & then (short) evening prayers.

I'm sorry for your loss of a relative and for the loss of your fellow countrymen. I don't know why but I was crying as I read your post. I don't know why because you are so far away and because I don't really know you, your wife or her cousin in law. There are so many horrible, tragic things that happen in this world. I think we build a shell to shut them out so we can go on. I never want to have a hard heart that cannot be touched by the world, the suffering and the love.
May you have peace in your heart even when you cannot see peace.

Yesterday's readings in synagogue were Exodus 10:1-13:16 and Jeremiah 46:13-28. Given thursday's & friday's events, I found the last few verses from Jeremiah very comforting:

I will never forget this song. 29 Years ago when coming up from the water after being baptized the congregation sung this song and from that day it is extra special to me. It was such a wonderful experience to get baptized. God is so good

stillsmallvoice - I feel a small measure of your pain even from so far away. Working in security, I see more senseless hatred than many of my peers, but I am still far removed from a culture where daily violence is normal. I pray that our L-rd may be with you and your country as you deal with this pain in your daily life.
On another note, I am wondering if you peoples could pray for Deamiter as I run headlong into another semester at my university. Last semester did not go well as I did not handle my depression very well. However, I have high hopes for the future as I study the scriptures and perhaps find a way out of my issues. I post more often in the depression forum, but perhaps I could chip out a home for me here too!
