Engoron wrote in his decision last month finding Trump liable for fraudulently inflating the value of his assets that he found Cohen’s testimony credible about Trump indirectly ordering him to reverse engineer financial statements. The judge did not directly address questions about Cohen’s tax evasion plea, but noted: “This factfinder does not believe that pleading guilty to perjury means that you can never tell the truth. Michael Cohen told the truth.”

Engoron needs to be held accountable.

Engoron needs to be held accountable.
Looking for retribution, are we? Where have I heard that before?

You want him held accountable because he believes Cohen told the truth? If you look past the superficial you would notice that Engoron also has a pile of factual evidence that Cohen is telling the truth regarding Donald.

Then there is this legal stuff:

"In a court filing last week, Trump's attorneys said they planned to argue their client didn't think he was doing anything wrong by paying Cohen back in transactions that were listed as legal fees because of his "awareness" that lawyers had been involved in the talks. They said Trump wasn't asserting a formal advice-of-counsel defense, which would entitle prosecutors to more information about his communications with his attorneys.

Merchan said Monday he was rejecting that defense, finding that if he didn't, it essentially would have allowed Trump to get the benefits of the "advice of counsel" defense without the obligations that come with it.

"The result would undoubtedly be to confuse and mislead the jury. This Court can not endorse such a tactic," Merchan wrote."

For being a meanie pie to Trump, I'd guess.
The entire story has fascinated me for a while, and the similarities are stunning. Michael Cohen is every bit as twisted and manipulative as Donald, and this is a story where the only retribution Cohen is looking for is to see Donald taking the fall for throwing Cohen under the bus and put in prison on behalf of crimes committed for of Donald. Donald, on the other side of the same coin is seeking retribution on more than half of America for being taken out of the White House. They are the same type of person, so this is kind of like a cage fight!

Fraud. People know Mar-a-lago is not a 15 million dollar property. There was just a CEO of a luxury real estate company on CNN and told them Trump may sell the property for hundreds of millions. Violation of the 8th Amendment of the U.S. Constitution. Interference in a presidential election.

You keep saying this, and it is just not true. When will you stop?

First the 'alleged' amount was 18 million.

Second :
"In his decision, Engoron — who is deciding the trial rather than a jury — cited a local Palm Beach County official saying the country club had been assessed at a range of between $18 million and $27 million between 2011 and 2021.

In the same decision, Engoron rejected Trump’s expert’s valuation that the Florida estate was worth $1.5 billion, finding the expert’s opinion “unexplained and unsubstantiated ‘dream[s.]'”

You have been told and told that what you are saying is misleading.

You know none of this is true. Why do you keep repeating what you have been shown is incorrect?

Of course it is all true. Do you maintain the correct value of Mara-a-lago is 15 million dollars? Does the 8th Amendment state it applies to only criminal and not civil cases? Do you maintain it is just a coincidence that all of these lawsuits by coincidence just happen to be during election season and that the guy they apply to just happens to be running for president against a left leaning Democrat? That they would all be happening now if Trump was not running for president and had never been president?

Pleading guilty to a prior act should not label someone forever.
Instead, each future testimony should be evaluated individually.
I am grateful that Lev Parnas recently told the truth to a House subcommittee, for example. His stories about Russia should make everyone wary.

Yeah, I heard Lev Parnas on the news this morning confessing to being enthralled to DJT. He said only his arrest and jail time broke the spell.

Committing perjury is a serious offense, not to be taken lightly. Once a person is caught lying, such as Ms. Hutchinson, further testimony is discredited.

It is foolish to discredit testimony without investigating its veracity.

Often there is corroborating evidence, or corroborating testimony which lend credence to the testimony.

Let's face it, Cohen worked for a company, and its president, who have currently lost civil suits for a half billion dollars in tax fraud over 20 years. When working for a company where the corporate culture is rife with cheating and dishonesty, it is often impossible to extricate yourself completely from their nefarious activities.

Now, having severed all ties with said company, and having paid a penalty for getting hooked into their dishonesty, his testimony is probably even more likely to be accurate.

It's not excessive, the amounts correspond to the crime committed. And there's no interference, this does nothing to stop Trump from campaigning. These assertions are just plain false.

It's outrageous, a clear violation of the U.S. Constitution. There was no crime and no injured parties. The bond itself was excessive as well. It's an attack against America, banana republic stuff.

And again, a false claim. A clear crime was shown to have occured as by NY law. And the punishment was set according to the gains from breaking those said laws. That you want to ignore law just because of the person who committed it says a whole lot about your respect for local law. Only attack against America is coming from arguements like yours.
