A 15 year old boy walked into his dad's study and say's "Dad I really want to talk about getting my driver's license...I really want to buy a car too...can we talk about this?" His dad say's "I'll make you a deal." "You study hard in school, read out of your bible every day, and cut off your long hair and I will talk to you about getting you a car when you are 16." "I'll give you 3 months to prove to me you can do all three things." Three months later the boy goes into his dad's study and tells his dad he has studied very hard..has all A's and he is reading the bible everyday...His dad looks at him and says "Yeah, but you didn't cut your hair." The boy replies, "Jesus, had long hair." "Why should I have to cut my hair just because I want a car?" The father replied, "Jesus may have had long hair, but he also walked everywhere!"

CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.
