Make up my mind? I feel regions like the South are being dictated to by people with a whole different culture and world view. Progressives claim that they are being held back, while conservatives claim that we are falling off a cliff. Why not just leave the Union and make everyone happy?

It wouldn't make me happy. And it's all about me.

What "whole different culture"? Nobody's forcing you to eat Mexican or Thai or whatever food.

The only cliff conservatives are about to fall off is tghe one created by the Do-Nothing mouth-breathing Tea Party members of the House of Representatives.

This may be giving this temper tantrum of an idea more thought then it is worth but were a state to leave the union everyone that was in it prior to leaving the union would still hold US citizenship and have the right to move freely about the remaining 49 states. The only issue would be who is allowed back into the rogue state and given how rapidly they would fall to ruin they would not even have to work out an immigration policy as the traffic would be exit only.

I'm not from the South, but southerns have separate culture, traditions, and civilization then the North.

I would think it to be in the interest of the union to allow those that wanted out to leave the rogue state as a brutal brain drain on top of all the other issues would likely cause them to come crawling back that much sooner.

Which is why we despise Yankees and would rather they go back where they came from or go to Florida. But we do tolerate them, treat them politely and let them drive and vote and get married and go to school.

As a former yankee living among the Southerners in Louisiana and then Georgia I can verify that indeed this is largely how we were treated. "Tolerated". Although some befriended me!

I'd have to agree with that assessment. Since there really isn't "yankee food" outside of New England and even then it's best to avoid most of the time.

Another of my Yankee friends used to love to respond when he heard the phrase "The South's gonna do it agin!" with
